A very poor turnout for this one. Many of the players that played last week are surprisingly skipping this.
My field rating for this is a very low 59% (down from 72.5% when last played in 2019), making it the weakest field of the year so far. Last week's tournament in Singapore was 17% higher.
My breakdown is 69% from the LPGA Priority List and 49% from the Rolex Rankings.
Some of the key players not teeing it up this week include:
Jin Young Ko Sei Young Kim Brooke Henderson Nelly Korda Jessica Korda Lexi Thompson Lizette Salas Mi Jung Hur Inbee Park Ally Ewing Jennifer Kupcho Stacy Lewis Mel Reid Austin Ernst Angela Stanford A Lim Kim

I was thinking about Beth Ann saying that these Courses are too long. I wonder if she watched the HSBC and how these great Golfers performs on a Championship Course. The shot making and green reading were tremendous. I really hate it when people disrespect how skillful these Golfers are. So if she thinks this type of play isn't enjoyable, she needs to find a different job.

I was thinking about Beth Ann saying that these Courses are too long.
The inferior JLPGA played one if its "lesser events" at 6,638 yards last week ... most of the players got their azzes kicked, but the tour doesn't care and neither do the fans who would have bought all the tickets if they were available.

Last week was the most entertaining tournament of the season. I bet she's only saying this BS because the result contradicts her idea that we need more the birdie fests. Please tell me how any event where one of the shortest players off the tee is in contention all week is set up too long?! Lol, ridiculous. I love that Inbee leads this Risk-Reward challenge. Hope she wins, probably doesn't even pay attention to which hole it is.

I'm thinking of ordering one of those facemasks for watching golf in person down here in Southeast Asia - I already have the arm sleeves. In person, that is, whenever the heck they allow fans again (and travel without quarantine).
Must be Eun-hee Ji with Hyo Joo?
On Beth Ann, not to defend her too much, but I think she was pushing for more variety, not just shorter courses. She did have some good points in that article. But I agree that the Singapore course was a great test of golf, without having to trick it up. Plenty of tricky holes as is, haha.

When you say the courses are too long, you want shorter courses. Plain and simple.

I started watching the LPGA and the first thing I saw was Golfers picking up their balls. Also noticed the par fives are moved up. They are Professional, they should be able to play on damp fairways. Anyway, there will be real Professional golf on the KLPGA and JLPGA for me to watch. I just can't stand to watch Pro Golfers play lift clean and cheat.

Round 1
Blah, not a good showing for the Sisters in round 1. So Yeon was OK at 69, and Rocket managed to limp into the house at 68 with a round that included a pitch-in eagle and all sorts of ups and downs. Hyo Joo is still working off the pop tarts from last week it seems: +1.
In Gee had a really good day, actually. 15/18 greens and 272 yards driving, which was above or in line with many of the long hitters. But 32 putts. Argh. One of the leaders had the same GIR, only slightly longer average, but *24* putts. There's the difference. If In Gee can avoid the fire ants (what is up with that? Hyo Joo looked like she was freaking out at one point) and put the ball in the hole better, we could see her surge.
Lee6, on the other hand, is worrying me. She only hit half her greens and 4 fairways. This is starting to look like a career-damaging slump. I sure hope not!
Hwaiting!

Beekeeper No. 2 had a good round. She's long past due.

Not 100% sure, but I think The Rodent has come out of the woodwork to loop for Celine Boutier.

Round 2
This one is pretty much over. This is another bomber's course (sure sign: Masson on the leaderboard) and when you have so many 64s in one round (I count three), there's no chance of anyone catching up.
The only noteworthy pluses are that some of the Sisters had good days. In Gee is not the type who shoots 64s, but she managed a tidy 68. Her stats were the same as day 1 except for her putting, which improved by a few strokes. So Yeon, Hyo Joo and Lee6 all had nice days, but they're all still miles back. At this point, Ryu and Lee6 need top fives (or wins) to make any ground on Kim in the Olympic race. They're going to have to go mega low to have any chance at even that.
Amy has won this three times, and is only six back, so who knows, she might get it going and have a chance. Another nice week in the offing for Rocket.
Hwaiting!

Not a great two days for So Yeon Ryu as she finds herself eleventh shots behind the Leader. She missed only one Fairway and two greens, but had thirty three putts.
Jeongeun Lee6 had her bad round 73 and good round 66 again. Maybe this time she will follow a good round with a good round. Order nearly I would call 66 a great round but not with this course set-up.
