Round 3 For most of this day this was an incredible display by the Sisters; but the golf gods seem to want to make things tough for them this year, and the final few holes were brutal for the leaders. Yes, Inbee and Hee Young had been making a few mistakes before 16, but the last thing I expected was that both of them would go into the water, and Hee Young did it AGAIN when her chip did not go far enough on the green and rolled back in. Inbee really seemed a little rattled, rare for her, but managed to make double. At that exact time, Lopez hits it close, Green hits it close, then Ko bounces her ball off of Green's ball right into the hole. Good grief. Despite all of that, Inbee managed to shrug it off, hit her approach to ten feet on 18, and made birdie to get into the final group tomorrow. OK. Nightmare over, back to the grind, and let's get that win!!! I do feel sorry for Rocket, though. What a terrible crash and burn. I don't think she would have won anyways, but it would have been cool to see her good play all week rewarded with a top five at least. Meanwhile, how about that In Gee Chun? Marvelous 66 to move into the top five, four out of the lead and right in this. She has to resist braiding Lydia's hair tomorrow (they are playing together) and focus, because she can certainly win this. So Yeon hung in there, had some great holes and some not so great, but she's also just four back and can win. And Amy and Hyo Joo at 9 under, five back. Sisters HWAITING!!!!

Looks like a another missed opportunity to win for the Korean Golfers. On moving day the only one with a significant move was In Gee. So Yeon didn't play too bad, but missed some short putts.
Good news is that Jin Young Ko rebounded with a clean five birdie day.
Sung Hyun Park had a great round going through sixteen holes. She had six birdies and one bogey, but a triple on seventeen derailed it.

Deja vu?
Last week, the top player in the field had a two shot lead on day three coming into the final few holes. She made some mistakes, and another player overtook her by a single shot by the end of the day. Same exact thing happened with Inbee today.
Last week it was Jin Young in this position; she had a mediocre final day and a player three shots behind her ended up winning.
If that happens tomorrow, there are three players three shots behind Inbee who could be the surprise winner: In Gee, So Yeon and Lydia. Could history repeat?
(with my luck, it would probably be Lydia who wins... But if either of the other two pull it off I will be thrilled!).

To be earnest the so call Golf Gods shouldn't have anything to do with how Sisters finish. Sure there will be Golfers that play way over their heads and have hole outs and chip in. For instant Henderson did have a hole out and made long putts. But that wouldn't have matter if Jin Young had taken care of business. All she needed to do was shoot under par instead of over par. If they don't bring their game with them, it will be another none win.

True, but you have to admit that, even as far as lucky shots go, Lydia's eagle on the final hole was insanely lucky. She was literally not in it until then. Geez, if she ends up winning because of that bank shot off her fellow player's ball... Well, I'll keep rooting hard for In Gee, So Yeon and Inbee. Hwaiting!

By the way, don't you all agree that this course is much better set up than the usual tour course? There are birdies to be had (even eagles), but there are also tricky bunkers, danger lurking off the tee and plenty of water, too. We may end up with a low score for the winner, but she will have earned it.

The broadcast crew just learned that Hee Young Park's nickname was Rocket. Now they know why. She shoots up the leaderboard...and drops down. That was painful to watch especially that disaster on 16.
Pro birdie by Inbee on 18 to get back into the final pairing.

Also, I think, hard to move the tees much to trick it up, except on the par 3s. That change on the 3rd hole really made it better, too. Got some heavy rain here in Singapore last night - and my friend who's volunteering, measuring drives on #10, says they are not getting much roll-out at all. So course might play longer today, with greens a bit more receptive.

Green really handed it to her - kinda sad, but not really, haha. Loved that Hyo Joo just sat there snacking the whole time!

Start watching the LPGA just in time for Hannah Green's three putt on eighteen. Great win for Hyo Joo Kim to save face for the Korean golfers. I guess they can also thank Hannah Green, who "couldn't get the horse to the Barn." Sometimes you can see the finish line, but it can be hard getting there.

Round 4 Congrats to Hyo Joo Kim! And WHEW! It's been a while since she got a win on the LPGA, but I guess the success she had last year in Korea mentally prepared her for the LPGA this year, and it finally paid dividends. Absolutely fantastic final round 64, early candidate for round of the year. I spent the entire round basically expecting PT or Green to walk off with the trophy. IMAGINE my pleasure when Green pitched in for eagle to grab a share of the lead. Good fricking grief, golf gods, makes it subtle at least! Then Inbee was again scorched by that damn 16th hole, which cost her three needless strokes on the weekend. But though it looked like Green was handed the title on a silver platter by that holeout, she completely bungled it coming in, fortunately for the Sisters. Although Hyo Joo looked like she couldn't have cared less, asking Mi Hyang to pass the dumplings while hanging out in the air conditioned dining room while awaiting a possible playoff. This win is probably her ticket to Tokyo, but So Yeon still had a pretty strong week, 6th place finish. She'll gain a few spots in the rankings I hope. In Gee was in contention for the first time in a very long time, and even though she never really got going today, she still managed to do well enough to maintain the top ten, her 4th of the year. Loved getting to see so much of her on TV! Question: do they EVER interview Hyo Joo? It was really awkward ending the telecast with a long shot of her holding the trophy, but no questions. Yeah, I don't think she speaks English that well, but they have like a dozen Korean golfers who would be more than happy to translate for her I'm sure! Like Mi Hyang, for instance. Congrats again to the Sisters! HWAITING!
