Yeah, I thought the Rolex Rankings were updated "automatically" every Monday. It still says April 12. Maybe the rankings aren't revised "magically" like I thought. How DO they update the results for hundreds of players across multiple tournaments every week?
Bethany Wu and Gimmee were the Monday qualifiers.
Wish I were there - some excellent threesomes ... Leona/Dr. Noh/Ruffels ... Muni & JTibs ... MHL/Pajaree/Fassi (well, two out of three )
C. Kerr/Sung Hung/Yani Toast ... a six-hour round when two players can't find the golf course with their shots.

Pairings www.lpga.com/tournaments/hugel-air-premia-la-open/pairingsNice to see So Young Ryu paired with Sei Young Kim. Gabriela Ruffels needs to make cuts when she get these chances. If she want to get into the top forty on the Money List. The Q-Series is not that attractive since they changed it.

In the old days many Angelenos said Will shy err Boulevard. Let's see if the announcing crew gets it right tomorrow.

Rolex rankings are up now.
The rankings were available on Monday using the direct link (https://www.rolexrankings.com/rankings/2021-04-19). No idea why the main URL wasn't changed to redirect to the 4/19 page.

The breakdown is 83% from the LPGA Priority List and 65% from the Rolex Rankings. Sun Ju Ahn and Morgan Pressel have fallen out of the top 100 and are no longer part of my field rating. They have been replaced in the top 100 of the Rolex Rankings by Miyu Yamashita and Leona Maguire.

Paphangkorn arrived rested with the same fantastic swing she had at ANA ... and shot 75, +4. Is there anyone left who can plausibly defend the annual Desert Early Bird Dinner Invitational?
Looks like flared hem golf pants have come back. I know MHL is wearing them in 2021 ... and Minjee Lee had a white pair on TV that looked REALLY good. Judy says Minjee has the game to win a Major if it's on a hard golf course ... which means she'll NEVER win one ... unless it's the USWO.
Muni received a lot of TV tonight for the first time in ages. I'm surprised Nike didn't retain her for apparel ... now sporting TaylorMade headwear.
Speaking of MHL, shooting +1 on the bumpy PM greens isn't bad ... watch her light it up tomorrow AM.
The Rocket always adds to the scenery (+2 thru 16) ... and I really like the visuals in and around this layout ... all that's missing is Jake Gittes and his fedora.

Not great but good rounds to start for eight Korean Golfers, minus three or better. It looks like A Lim Kim is getting comfortable playing the LPGA. She had a double bogey on the third hole, finished with six birdies and no bogeys.
I can't say the same about Yui Kawamoto with a plus four. She needs to break out of this funk. She is a much better golfer than the numbers that she is putting up.
Looks like Lydia didn't keep her great play going today, with a plus seven score.
Gabriela Ruffels got to minus three before a double bogey on eighteen.
A shout out to another ex USC Trojan Golfer Muni He, six birdies two bogeys.

The only thing they were both sure about was the number of Instagram followers she has (350k). At least they've got their priorities straight.

Super Peanut should have won the 2001 playoff at Wilshire against Mannika. It would be fitting if Finkelstein, another player built low to the ground, can continue making some noise.

Round 1 Great start for pretty much all the top Sisters in the field. So Yeon, Jin Young, Inbee, Sei Young, A Lim, even Lee6 and Sung Hyun had solid starts. I'm betting part of it is that the course is playing tougher than the pitch and putts we recently watched, but a little of it is probably the fact that they are so close to the biggest KoreaTown in the States. No problem finding their favorite K-dinners, and they're probably being treated really well by the restaurant owners, too. I hope we get to actually see a few of the big names tomorrow. Sisters hwaiting!!!

As expected, MHL took advantage of better putting conditions in the AM and will cash in this week.
Getty Images appears to be AWOL for this event ... don't know why, but there are other sources. Minjee looks safe for Fri-Sat, so her fan club from a balcony above the 10th hole will be out again.
