This one kicks off Friday in Kumamoto way down south with high temps ranging from 67F to 73F for Friday thru Sunday. This time, Hori One goes to the bench and is replaced by Hori Two, whose play should be much superior (probably ... maybe?).
Sunday's round will be carried here at 3 PM (Japan time) -

There will LIVE coverage all three days ... try this YT search:
KKT杯バンテリンレディスオープン
The field is pretty much the same as last week with one significant absence, SW Bae. For better or worse, all the foreign players are self-trapped in Japan thru November ... because Bae and the rest of them know that if they left, it would be such a pain in the azz to get back into Japan. There's nothing wrong staying there if you're playing well, but what about someone like the ex-Leader of The Pack? How does she make ends meet when she trunk slams six weeks in a row? In contrast, Bo Mee Lee has a mountain of money as a backstop, so she can play lousy in 2021 (which she has) and it doesn't matter. Frankly, I'm surprised she hasn't dropped off this tour and announced she's starting a family ... of course, she might be working on that ... and why not, I think she has maxed out her golf capabilities and has nothing left to prove.
******
I looked up Shin Ae Ahn ... San Diego training camp is over as she was in Seoul last week. Is she trying to get into Japan? Maybe she should take the Gulbis route ... announce your retirement, get at least ten sponsor invites per season, be Korea's "guest" and get comped for everything.
*******
The Unknown Korean will be trying to win another wastepaper basket this week at the scrub tour's Fundokin Ladies event (April 13-15). It's already started and Simin Feng bogeyed and double-bogeyed on her first two holes, currently +2 thru seven holes. Wow, from "The Show" five years ago to being trapped in the minor minor leagues ... although IMHO, her swing was not ideal from what I saw on TV and at the Seaview. I know her IG mentioned working on swing changes in the last couple of years ... which hasn't yielded much, I guess. She left Vandy U. early, which doesn't look so good now. It's too bad, because you can never have too many cute golfers on the major tours.

The Sweet Swingin' Unknown Korean finished T-2 this week at the Fundokin Ladies and is on top of the scrub tour's money list for 2020-21.

The defending champ (from 2019) is Ji Hee Lee, who also won it in 2009 and 2003 ... a commemorative tree marks her accomplishments.
Sakura Koiwai turned 23 on Thursday ...
... and will have her coach on the bag this week.
Sky Kim, Hana Wakimoto and Mone Inami
Team Kumamoto is headed by Momoko Ueda and Chie Arimura ... but no spectators this week.

Min Young Lee is the early leader at -3 thru seven holes and Sayaka Takahashi is tied for second at -2 thru four holes.
The sample video below has the first groups beginning Round One at 4:13. The action before 4:13 is from another tournament ... it must be because it shows Solar Lee at -5.

A channel called NTV G+ will carry LIVE action at 7:30 AM (Japan time) on the weekend, but I don't know if the NTV link I posted earlier will have it.

I avoid the "down arrow" videos, which look bogus or buggy ... and I don't want my PC screwed up. Every once in a while, you'll see a true LIVE video without the arrows ... they are safe, but rare as YT is quick to shut them down. Mostly I stick to the completed videos that are usually one or two hours in length.
That 1st hole (par-4, 372 yards) is a head-scratcher. You hit a perfect drive and your ball goes down and finishes in an incline of 100% rough which completely severs the fairway. But, this is no penalty as the rough is not high or sticky ... in Round One, the players were knocking the flag down from the rough and making plenty of birdies. Meanwhile, Reika Usui and Teresa Lu laid back in the fairway with 3W shots, made pars and lost strokes to the field.
Eight Head is +1 with three holes remaining ... projected cut line is +2.

The cut remained at +2 and 65 players made it. BML made a furious comeback with a 69, but missed it by one stroke.

Kotone Hori got a chance to pick up a top ten, hoping that she does. Her greens in regulation wasn't that good, but twenty five putts really helped.

Kotone Hori got to seven under with three birdies through seven holes. She made bogeys on eight and fourteen to drop to five under. But being the great golfer (kidding) that she is, made birdie on eighteen. That put her to six under and a tie for 7th place. With how things look should guarantee her a top ten.
Sayaka is having a tough day at the office, plus five through seventeen holes. The win will have to come another day.

This is the regular broadcast starting with the leader teeing off at #15 ... I decided not to get up early for it, but wait for a YouTube posting instead ... smart move, the outcome was never in doubt:
