The PRGR gear brand has dropped its sponsorship of this event ... replaced by an insurance company. It starts Friday with a field of 120 (twenty of those players will be sponsor picks) ... cut after Round Two will be top-60 plus ties. Natsuka Hori, who hasn't won a dime on Japan's big tour or scrub tour since 2018, will join baby sis Kotone this week. Ayako Uehara and Yui Kawamoto will continue their spring training games ... Uehara is in the field for the Kia Classic and Yui is not.
No TV for Round One ... however, Round Two on Saturday can be seen on YouTube from 9:30 AM thru the end of the round (Japan time) ... for me, that means a 7:30 PM EST start on Friday. The link is here:

The regular broadcasts for Saturday and Sunday will be here (Japan time) -
Sat - 4 PM Sun - 4 PM
BTW, I just put on TV Tokyo and saw the start of a K-Drama (ep. 53) with Japanese subtitles ... and it sounds like they dubbed it in Japanese, too ... no familiar familiar faces yet, but I haven't watched this stuff in ages.
UPDATE: Okay, I just saw this woman who plays a mother in every K-Drama ever made.

Yui Kawamoto is listed in the ANA and so is A Lim Kim. Too bad there will be no fans. I would make time to follow them and also ex USC Trojan Gabriele Ruffels. Along with the usual ones that I follow.

The no gallery idiocy is back this week. Spectators will be barred from next week's T-Point/ENEOS event, but they are selling limited numbers of advanced tickets only for the following week's AXA Ladies event.

That stupid YouTube link I posted for the non-stop video doesn't work ... says it is private ... I don't have a login for YT, maybe that's what it wanted. Or, maybe it is just plain geo-blocking. The good news is that a rogue video is running on YT, although it is one hour behind the official broadcast. If it gets taken down, there's the regular broadcast at 2 AM (my time). They just showed Saku-chan on the range ... I wonder if they still use PRGR practice balls, now that PRGR is off the sponsorship of this event.
SW Bae is +2 thru 24 holes, T-60.

The cut was +3 and 62 players made it. Lots of videos on YouTube. Erika Hara and Serena Aoki dropped out.

Clearly, Tom Abbott is giving fashion critiques on the wrong tour. I never saw Kana Nagai play with a yellow ball before ... can't make out the brand ... the most recent info I could find said she was playing a Titleist Pro V1x in 2019.
Miyuki Takeuchi (MC)
Natsuka Hori (+2)
Jae Eun Chung (+1)
Maria Shinohara
Hee Kyeong Bae (+1) and Misuzu Narita (MC)

Kotone Hori got to minus four at one time. Still minus two tied for tenth is a big step forward for her,. Hope she has a better finish than last time.
Big sister Natsuka will also be in the money which is good..
Yuri Kawamoto made the one birdie on her front nine. But with the two bogey back nine she just made the cut.

Harrumph ... how do you say aigoo in Japanese ... NOT the ending I wanted. On the 3rd playoff hole at #18 ... ugh, instead of writing about it, you can watch it here starting at 47:48 -

They downsized the trophy and stripped off the red paint. Inami will be tough this year ... has a lot a speed with the driver and is not wild with it.
Low am Yuka Nii (-1)
Hori One (E) and Hori Two got off welfare this week
Shibuno (+7) had bogey fever on the weekend
BML (+7) and Nanoko Hayashi
Kana Nagai
Haruka Morita starts 2021 with a 2nd and T-3 after stinking it up in 2020.
Rumi Yoshiba (+2) and Asako Fujimoto

A clean final round for Kotone Hori one birdie no bogeys. Also a great Tournament tied for eighth.
Natsuka Hori also had a good Tournament, tie for twenty third She made birdies on two of the last four holes.
Yui Kawamoto her first under par round of the Tournament minus two. Had four birdies and two bogeys to finish in a tie for twenty-eight. Could have been sixty nine but one of her bogeys was on eighteen.
