This one kicks off the year in Okinawa (March 4-7) for a cool ¥120,000,000. Similar to the LPGA, the JLPGA is in the middle of its "2020-21" season. The field hasn't been posted yet, but it was reported on Wednesday that JY Shin will not begin the year until the 4th tournament (AXA Ladies) at the end of March. In addition, Big Mama Ahn (maternity leave) and Shin Ae Ahn (expired visa) are also skipping Okinawa. However, Bo Mee Lee, SW Bae, Mi Jeong Jeon, Ji Hee Lee and Min Young Lee will tee it up. As of now, the decision on having a gallery there is TBD ... there will not be galleries at the second and third events of March (Yokohama Tire and T-Point).

Today was the deadline for entering the field of 108. Additional Sisters not making it there include Sky Kim, Na Ri Lee and Seung Ji Han. LPGAer Yui Kawamoto will play and I see Ayako Uehara on the tournament posters, as well as retiree Shinobu Moromizato. The top-four players from the two-day Daikin Orchid Ladies Amateur Golf Championship last month are also in the field (below).

Three winners were selected from the tournament poster artwork produced by Okinawa school children.
Grand Prize - the artist (age 13) says, "I mainly drew Okinawan characters, especially Okinawa's guardian god Shisa, because I wanted to get rid of the prevalent coronavirus."
Artist is age 10.
Artist is age 8.

Sanity is starting to emerge in Japan, but on a small scale ... they're going to limit spectators to 1,000 per day, plus temperature checks upon entry and wider roping than normal.

Various TV stations will carry the action for Rounds Two thru Four. I think the link below will work for the weekend (Japan time):

Sat. March 6 - 4 PM Sun. March 7 - 3:30 PM
I would also check YouTube with this search string:

The former Superstar is going off the 10th tee on Thursday with two unknowns in the last tee time.
Getty Images has over 100 pics from Tuesday ... a few players not in the collection I posted earlier today:
Ting Ting
Yukari Nishiyama, who turns 39 in June ... split 2020 on the big tour and scrub tour
Momo Yoshikawa and her new bag of Honma toys
Here's a change I must have missed ... Hina Arakaki bolted the Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO/Miyazaki/Aasics empire for Callaway (see head covers). She had an XXIO bag last year and is going with a Munsingwear bag this year ... the Penguin has been her apparel brand for the last few years.
Hina turned 22 in December and can turn a few heads on the golf course

Well, I hope the players got in all the practice they needed on Tuesday, because Wednesday's practice round was cancelled. Why? Because one construction worker, who had no close contact with anyone else, tested positive. So they shut down Wednesday's golf in order to do a hyper-nuclear sanitation of the whole joint ... which is a massive waste of time and money, per articles posted by The New York Slimes and The Washington Compost late last year (hardly mouthpieces for Agent Orange). Otherwise, the tournament will continue as planned with 1,000 spectators per day starting Thursday.
Tuesday's practice ... should be interesting to see how these bleachers are filled later on ... will anyone bring a Hefty trash bag to sit on?

Even par first nine holes Kotone Hori, started double bogey, eagle, birdie, later two bogeys and birdie on nine. Yui also even par on her first nine, two birdies and two bogeys. So far not a bad start for both.

The top-60 plus ties will make the cut, which is currently +1.
POS PLAYER SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R 4R TOTAL 1 Mao Saigo -8 -8 64 64 2T Akira Yamaji -5 -5 67 67 2T Sayaka Takahashi -5 -5 67 67 2T Erika Kikuchi -5 -5 67 67 2T Hikari Tanabe -5 -5 67 67 2T Mika Miyazato -5 -5 67 67 2T Hina Arakaki -5 -5 67 67 8T Hikaru Yoshimoto -4 -4 68 68 8T Haruka Morita -4 -4 68 68 8T Momoko Ueda -4 -4 68 68
If the former Leader of the Pack (81, +9, DFL) said she could play golf, that would make her a Fair Liar.
Not yet a return to a 2019 mob scene for Cinderella (-1)
Mao Saigo
Hina Arakaki clarification ... she left Srixon, but has not signed a club contract with anyone ... currently experimenting with Cally's Maverick driver this week.
Bo Mee Lee (+2), Rumi Yoshiba (+1) and SW Bae (+3)
Erika Kikuchi signed up with Puma duds this year, but is still with Titleist for her gear.
Ayaka Matsumori (-1) and Miyu Yamato (-3), who aced #13 and won 500K yen.
Why is the LPGA still dragging its feet regarding spectators? This would be a normal turnout for them.

A decent first round for Yui Kawamoto, minus one with her new clubs. Kotone Hori hit a bump in the road, plus four on the back nine.
Solar Lee just getting in some practice before the KLPGA starts. That's where her scores will really count.
