I was out yesterday and didn't see this. I hope ANWA posts a replay on its website or YouTube, similar to the video they have from 2019. I'll withhold comment for now, although the news articles make it clear that Rose Zhang had a huge brain fart at #13.
Tsubasa Kajitani, age 17 ... looks 27 ... played like 37. I'm guessing she'll outperform Yui, Shibuno, Saso and Hara in airport turnout this week.

I went back and reviewed the invitations for the 2020 ANWA and Ye Won Lee of ROK was on the list and would be here in 2021 IF she maintained her amateur status. I assume she is a pro now because I don't see her name on the WAGR list.

She's just 18, so she'll be on the Dream Tour for the moment.  |

The ANWA website has now uploaded the Saturday broadcast, which I watched most of Monday night ... 4 hours and 48 minutes  ... I dozed off more than once and had to go back to watch what I missed.
First of all, you could have had a drinking game set up ... take a shot every time Mike Tirico mentions a player's college ... if it was hard stuff, you'd be under the table in 10 minutes. I'm almost positive he said Olivia Mehaffey was a senior at Arizona St. four times. You'd have to take a lethal guzzle when he got to Auston Kim hitting a shot ... said "Vanderbilt", "Houston Cougars" and "Vandy" within a 30-second timeframe. Why doesn't GC just trademark "April Madness?" (I'll bet some squatter already did). It's so funny that the winner is NOT in a U.S. college program and NEVER will be.
I didn't watch last year's USWA, so this was my first extended look at Rose Zhang (committed to Stanford). I was underwhelmed regarding her full swing and I have backing from the broadcasters on that opinion. They called her a low spin player and showed how her level swing through the impact zone with no divot makes her that way. I'll admit it's a skillful way to hit a ball ... my no-divot shots are sometimes grounders, skulls and hosel rockets.  But, her way might be behind the times ... all the rage in women's golf is adding more POWER in every way, and that includes MORE spin for some (not all) shots.
In contrast, the player who impressed me the most was Ingrid Lindblad (LSU). She was putting some Louisiana Hot Sauce on her golf ball ... with a little luck, this burly Swede could be a New & Improved Annika Sorenstam Caro Hedwall ... yeah, I almost got carried away there.  Overall, this field and the level of play was kind of bleh to me ... if the pandemic suspension stunted some of these players, I can buy that. If the 2019 versions of Kupcho (Wake Forest) and Fassi (Arkansas) had shown up here, they would have finished one-two again.
Loved the scene after the playoff where Kajitani walked past and ignored Bubba the Clown behind the left side of the ropes  ... her guardian/interpreter/handler tapped her on the back and let her know who she passed, so she turned back to say hello.

Is this a great pic? The winner has been around the block a few times ... including the 2014 IMG Junior World Academy Championship in San Diego, where she finished second, one stroke behind Team Pano in the girls 9-10 age group. Pano won by shooting -1 over three days on a par-56 course of 2,435 yards. Kajitani's ace was on Day One at the 10th hole (94 yards) of the Lomas Santa Fe Exec GC.

Erica Sheppard (+8, T-16) made the expert look dumb again ... I can't figure out how she clouded my judgement.
