As another example, A Lim Kim is busily preparing to come to the LPGA as a rookie. She is spending an hour/day learning English on top of a concentrated training program focusing on learning new grass types common in America.
Anyways, according to a recent article, here is the list of her sponsors, many of which came on board following her US Women's Open win: SBI Savings Bank (main sponsor) Mizuno (clubs) Fantom (clothing) Titleist (ball, glove, shoe) Voice Caddy Rudy (no idea what this is) Sky 72 (golf country club) OSP (pet foods) Eloel (cosmetics) Coffeesmith (cafe)
A Lim, you really need to do due diligence on your new American "sponsors."
Ga Young Lee says in an interview that she was disappointed with 2020 and is determined to get her first career win in 2021.
She finished just 60th on the tour money list in 2020 with not even a single top ten, a big step down from 2019, when she was 25th. She is working on increasing her driving distance, which was 245 yards last year, and her shots from within 100 yards.
A recent article on the Korean internet mentioned that several KLPGA stars "more than doubled" their main sponsorship value in renegotiations this Winter.
The players who scored big: A Lim Kim (who was looking at a downgrade on her SBI contract before she hit the jackpot at the US Women's Open), Hee Jeong Lim, and Hyun Ju Yoo, whose TaylorMade contract is apparently more than twice the value of the Pearly Gates/Master Bunny one, despite losing her tour card this year.
So Mi Lee and Ayean Cho also made between 1.5 to 2X more in signing their main sponsor contracts. Cho is with a new sponsor, Dong Boo, a construction company, while Lee is still with SBI Bank. Both of their rookie contracts ended earlier than expected as well to allow for the upgrade.
Among the newcomers who are doing well are Se Hee Lee, a Dream Tour graduate who has already signed multiple contracts with Miko Group, MC Square and Renoma; and 26-year-old Bo Min Shin, who has finally qualified for the KLPGA after nine years in the trenches. She'll be with SBI as well.
Below: Bo Min Shin and Da Eun Kim sign up with SBI on Wednesday.
