I am doing this a bit early this week as I am flying to Florida, where I will be for the next 2 weeks.
This tournament has the return to the LPGA of both Jin Young Ko and Jeong Eun Lee6.
My field rating is 63%, making it the 3rd strongest non-major field of the year. Believe it or not the ShopRite and Walmart were ranked higher)
It rates 74% from the LPGA Priority List, but just 52% from the Rolex Rankings.
Why is the field rating so low when two highly ranked stars return this week you may ask?
It's because many starrs have chosen to skip this event. They include:
Nelly Korda Hyo Joo Kim Lizette Salas Carlota Ciganda Shanshan Feng Amy Yang Charlie Hull So Yeon Ryu Inbee Park Marina Alex Gaby Lopez Mirim Lee Georgia Hall Anna Nordqvist
Those players are all highly ranked by the Rolex Rankings, and lots of points are lost.

All four rounds of this event have a delayed start on GC at 4pm ET each day. Livestream for R1 & R2 starts at 2:30pm ET, and for R3 & R4 at 1pm ET. ******** Kelly Tan is a late scratch. The Malaysian golf rags and her social media are on radio silence as to the reason. She was looking forward to the event as recently as two days ago. I hope she didn't get into an accident using this product. https://www.instagram.com/p/CHjjzVsj4Ky

ParGolf Magazine got the scoop on KT's withdrawal. pargolf.my/kelly-tan-opts-out-of-this-weeks-pelican-womens-championship-to-focus-on-lpgas-final-stretch-in-december/Malaysian ladies No 1 Kelly Tan is focusing her energy on the LPGA’s final stretch of three events in December, opting out of this week’s Pelican Women’s Championship in Florida.
Well-placed in 36th spot on the LPGA’s season-long Race To CME Globe after 12 events, Kelly is working on fine-tuning her game as she gears up for the three-event December finale – the US$1.75 million Volunteers of America Classic (Old American Golf Club, Dallas, Texas / Dec 3-6), the US$5.5 million US Women’s Open (Champions Golf Club, Houston, Texas / Dec 10-13) and the US$3 million CME Group Tour Championship (Tiburon Golf Club, Naples, Florida / Dec 17-20).
“I just want to be really well prepared for the last three events, which include the US Women’s Open and the CME Group Tour Championship,” said Kelly, who is already in Dallas.
The 27-year-old is particularly pumped up for what will be her 16th Major appearance at the US Women’s Open, originally scheduled for June but moved to its current date in a revamped and abbreviated LPGA schedule. To account for reduced daylight in December, the first two rounds will be played over both courses at Champions Golf Club, Cypress Creek and Jackrabbit, with the former hosting rounds 3 and 4.
Kelly noted that she aims to get in a few rounds at Champions Golf Club before tournament week. “The US Women’s Open is being played on two courses and I feel like I won’t get enough looks during the week of the tournament. I just don’t want to rush during the week to get all my practice rounds in,” she said.
Kelly’s form has been excellent since the LPGA Tour resumed in late July after a five-month break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Her season has been highlighted by consistency and a number of strong performances, including a T13 finish in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last month which is the best-ever finish by a Malaysian of either gender in a Major.

So excited for this with both Young Ko and Lee6 returning. I feel like the LPGA has had it too easy without so many Korean players... especially #1 Ko. I'm really hoping to see her get a win in her first event back. "Miss me?" 😉
Would also love to see a strong finish from SH Park. I think she could use a confidence boost.

Round 1
Meh start for Lee6 and Jin Young. Six is kind of notorious for starting slowly and picking up the pace in round 2, so hopefully she has some positive surprises in her bag on Friday. Jin Young just seemed a bit off today based on what we saw on the broadcast; perhaps she was a little nervous, as she suggested in her pre-tournament presser.
Nice start for Sei Young, and In Gee's +1 was decent.
Let's rally and get some Korean star power on that leaderboard!!! Sisters hwaiting!

IMO the current state of US women's golf doesn't bode well for the near future of the LPGA. Not that I care about these things but there is a vacuum of let's call it star power now that Michelle has moved on. And that is eventually going to impact the size and scale of the whole LPGA enterprise, I feel. Personally I like to see it, and the balance of power continuing to shift towards Korea and Asia. So I am actually rooting for the likes of Sophia Popov.

Great round by Sei Young Kim five birdies no bogeys.
Solid two rounds by Mi Jung Hur 70, 69, In Gee Chun 71, 69, who bogeyed eighteen. Too far away maybe for the win, but top tens are durable.
Jeongeun Lee got to even par with birdies on 11,12, and fourteen. But made bogeys on 17 and eighteen. Still 69 is not bad after probably being quarantined with little practice time.
Another ho, hum day for Jin Young Ko, probably the same as Jeongeun, a little rusty. Top tens are durable for them as well.
