Jiyai Shin is amazing golfer. I wasn't that crazy about her after she beat Rookie So Yeon Ryu in the Korean Women Open. However watching her after she joined the LPGA. I saw what a great Golfer that she was and all was forgiven. Besides So Yeon finally won the Korean Women Open this year, her first KLPGA Major.
I'll admit I was disappointed that week, too. So Yeon seemingly had it in the bag before Shin rallied, caught her, and beat her in a playoff. It would take Ryu 12 years to finally win her first Major on the KLPGA, long after she had won Majors on the JLPGA and LPGA tours.
Nonetheless, Jiyai is a great lady. The story of how she moved into the hospital to take care of her siblings after her mom was killed in a car accident is such a moving and powerful statement of who she is. And she's one of the nicest and coolest of all the Sisters to boot. And she manages to win despite being heavily outgunned by many of her opponents; gotta love that grit. She's something else!
