Watching online ... during a silent commercial break, Fassi is off the green at the par-5 18th in light/medium rough on the short side of the flag (but not THAT close to it). For her third shot, with the ball at her front foot, she lays her wedge wide open and takes a full swing at ... the ball must have carried 50 feet OVER the flag. That was a strange decision ... still made a difficult two-putt for par.
MHL wants precise weighting on her irons and/or she doesn't want to give Mizuno free advertising.
Malaysian ladies No 1 Kelly Tan finished T49 in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, which ended yesterday at Pinnacle Country Club in Arizona.
Kelly carded rounds of 70, 68 and 68 for a seven-under-par 206 total, 13 shots behind winner Austin Ernst of the United States.
After a short break, the LPGA Tour resumes next week with the ANA Inspiration at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, where Kelly will make her 14th Major appearance. Kelly is currently in 36th place on the LPGA Tour’s Race To CME Globe rankings.
Congrats to Ernst, but this frustratingly easy course made for a kind of dull final day as far as the Sisters were concerned.
In Gee had a good week. She shot her two best rounds of the year, including a fine 66 in the final round. I can't really complain about that aspect of it; but, despite two great rounds, she still wasn't able to grab even a top 20 (and the other round, a 70, wasn't that bad either). Good stats, too, with her worst day being 15/18 GIR and a 256 driving average. The next step for her is to come up with a really great round or two. ANA would be a good time to do it.
Sei Young did have some great rounds this week, but just didn't bring it on Sunday. Still, her 8th straight top ten dating back to last season.
Inbee saved her best for last, a 65, and notched another top ten. She looks primed for a run at ANA.
Congrats also to Jenny and Mi Hyang; the Sisters had a good week. On the rookie front, top 20 for Yealimi and Esther Lee, first for both this year (for Esther, her first made cut!).
