It looks like this field has been increased from 144 to 156 this year. Sei Young Kim is in the field. Haven't done my field list yest, but it looks fairly strong considering it's the week after a major. All we have to do now is get Jin Young and Sung Hyun out of hiding in the the basement with Joe Biden.... and we may have something here.

Drive on had a Rolex index of 28, Marathon 31 and Ladies Scottish 35. For Rolex index, an average field should be about 48. I remember your Scottish strength was 46%; hope we'll finally get over 60% for the first time after the restart.

That is by far the strongest field of any non major this year. Breaking it down even further, I have it at 75% using just the top 100 of the Priority List....and 53% using just the top 100 of the Rolex Rankings. That averages out to my 64%.

Namdalla has now gone back to the US - she'll play at ANA. Told her fanclub she feels confident now that her shoulder has fully recovered.

Apparently Gaby Lopez and Marina Alex both tested positive for Covid back in Ohio. What's the protocol for this? I would think a positive test gets you removed from tournaments? Two week suspension? Anyways, they were both at the British.
Jin Young Ko apparently freaked a little at that news, since her caddie was going to work for Lopez the week she tested positive. Probably hasn't helped her confidence in the situation; she is still apparently undecided about when and whether to return to the LPGA. Anyways, stay tuned; it would be nice to see JYK defend at least one of her titles this year!

One of the reasons Koreans are taking their time is Rolex has been frozen their rankings as long as they don't play. Rolex should change their policy immediately. If players choose not to play, they should accept the consequences.

If players choose not to play, they should accept the consequences. Either you accept the notion that the virus will cause some to skip tournaments to be safe, or you don't. If you do, then the frozen Rolex rankings make sense. I think Rolex is doing the right thing here; it's an extraordinary situation. Yeah, I'd rather see her play, too, but not if she feels forced to.

To put Rolex Ranking into perspective. If Jin Young goal was number one Rolex Ranking, she achieved it. She knows that she wont be number one forever. So like the ones before her, then she will be known as a former number one. If she doesn't get Ranked number one again.
The Ranking is important for top fifteen to get in the Olympics. A top twenty Rankings should get you into all the Majors. Except for that it's mostly window dressing.
Ho Joo Kim and Jeong Eun Lee6 has been playing on the KLPGA Tour. So have some of the other LPGA players. So their Ranking hasn't always been frozen, if they didn't play a LPGA Tournament.
Beside any player that skip Tournaments, Ranking is frozen. Not just the Korean players, so why focus on them.

LPGA protocol says minimum 10 day quarantine, then more tests and medical exam to determine if eligible to return to tour. Marina played in Marathon, but Gaby didn’t return until the British Open.

MHL/Pressel/Yan at 8:06 AM ... that's a good one.
Mirim/Rocket/Yangster at 7:55 AM ... what a setup, no excuses for playing lousy on Friday.
NYC/Kupcho/Masson at 1:21 PM ... not bad.
Fassi/Andrea Lee/Piller at 1:43 PM ... great, they might have the Fassi-cam in place and we'll see Lee teaching Fassi how to play golf.

Inbee presser Jasmine presser There's also a presser with Fassi that's twice as long as either of the above. I did not embed it here, as a public service.

Although I’m not particularly a fan of Maria Fassi, there is an explanation for her extra long presser. She’s pretty much a local girl having graduated from the University of Arkansas, and likely the local media had lots of questions.
