I got up at 3 AM for the live TV Tokyo broadcast ... it's almost over.

New Godzilla carries an Under Armor umbrella ... strange sight since she doesn't have that brand of apparel or shoes.
As usual, Sakura Koiwai is a superb model for Le Coq golf ... she's the only one with a realistic chance of beating Saso on Sunday.
Mamiko Higa (E)
Kana Nagai (-1)
Pei Ying Tsai (-1) and Asako Fujimoto (+3)

Heavy rain forced the starting time of the first group to be pushed from 8:10 AM to 10:10 AM ... I assume this delay will cascade through the rest of the field.

YouTube is working for me. Three of the Leaders found the water on hole number two. First Hikaru Yoshimoto -8, hit her approach shot in the water made triple bogey. Hinano Mugurama hit her tee shot and approach shot in the water made triple bogey. Leader Yuko Saso hit her approach shot in the made double bogey. Sakura Koiwai picked up shots with two pars.
Shiho Oyama made birdie on two of the first three holes.
Sakura Koiwai made bogey on three, then rebound with birdie on four. Yuko Saso also made birdie on four.
Young Yuka Yasuda made bogey on five of her first seven holes. I saw her three putt three of the holes. Hinano Mugurama hit another approach shot in the water for double bogey. Probably only going to watch for one more hour.
By the way its still raining.

I woke up to watch TV Tokyo just as Saso and Koiwai made birdies at the par-5 9th hole ... Saso up by one at -14 ... everyone else is out of it. Both made pars at #10. Apparently the bills have to be paid ... just as Koiwai got to the top of her driver swing at #11, they cut to a long commercial break, followed by a movie! I can't find any rogue streams on YouTube to pick up the rest of the round, so I'm going back to bed.

There were third round cut at 34, but the top 60 still got paid.
The splash sisters Hikaru Yoshimoto and Hinano Muguramo shot 82 and 84. I don't think they like playing in the rain.

yuka saso was born and raised in the philippines, her father is japanese and taught her the game. moved to japan at a very early age. do not know where the "godzilla" label originated but it doesnt seem appropriate.
it appears she is already qualified for the olympics and does have ambition to play the us lpga.
