Fuji TV will carry Rounds Two and Three (Japan time) -

All the other Golfers better look out. Kotone Hori made birdie on eighteen to finish minus one. Pretty solid round, two birdies one bogey.

Now for the REAL warning ... they all better look out for the Philippina Sung Hung, who showed me raw, but scary qualities at a USWO qualifier in 2016.

Lots of videos posted on YouTube. I got up at 4 AM and watched the finish of Kana Nagai (-4 thru 17 holes) ... dropped a beautiful hybrid from 175 at the par-4 18th to set herself up for an easy birdie, especially since Teresa Lu was further away on the same line. Go to school, Kana, but no, she was sleeping in class and missed her putt.
Yuka Yasuda (E)
Rei Matsuda (-3) leads the Mutant Ninja Turtle division.
Rare slacks look for Pei Ying Tsai
Erina Hara (E)
While Sharon is AWOL, Miyuki Takeuchi is on top of the cheesecake division.
Mika Miyazato earlier in the week ... a good pick-up for Yonex, she had Mizuno irons last year.

Rei Matsuda (-3) leads the Mutant Ninja Turtle division. My generation would call that look 'Mort' from Bazooka Joe.

I was a rare bubble gum chewer 45-50 years ago, but yes, I remember Mort (but only after seeing the comic).

LIVE video of first tee offs and driving range for Round Two:
Ayaka Matsumori hit a perfect drive at #1 and a superb approach shot ... but only made par.
The comeback kid(?) Kotone Hori just hit the fairway on her opening drive of 257 yards (Mamiko Higo was six yards shorter with a 3W). The third in the group is Sakura Koiwai.
Yuka Yasuda and Erina Hara opened with pars at #10

Kotone Hori couldn't get the horse to the Barn. She was on her way to at least making the cut at minus one. She had three birdies and three bogeys, before hole seventeen. But a triple bogey on hole seventeen, probably ended her Tournament. I don't think two over will make the cut. It's tough, but you just have to hang in there.

The cut was at -1 and 55 players made it. The only Korean in the field, Ji Hee Lee, bombed out. I don't know why players like Jae Eun Chung, Ah Reum Hwang, Seung Ji Han and Sharon are sitting around doing nothing.

Solar Lee is also MIA, not playing here or the Dream event in Korea this week, where she was a Top 10 money earner on her way to a KLPGA card. And she's been off social media since early June. Is this any way to treat her two fans?

Either of these two links is showing the 1st hole and the range from Round Three ... at 8 PM EST, another channel will pick up these areas for another 90 minutes, but don't know if either of these URLs will continue working.

When Shibuno Fever comes home in mid-October, it won't be her tour anymore ... maybe. I doubt any of the Korean JLPGA regulars hiding under their beds this week would have changed this outcome.
Videos are getting posted and taken down as I write this. If the Fuji TV broadcast survives, it was GAME, SET & MATCH at the par-5 16th hole (480 yards) where Saso hammered her drive down the left side of the fairway at 283 yards. With an iron from 195 yards, she swung so hard that her feet recoiled ... dropped the ball stone dead about 8 feet from the cup and made the putt for eagle. The 30-somethings played great and still got buried.

The notion of playing for the U. of Georgia was pretty ridiculous, wasn't it?
She had an American looper who I did not recognize.
Second round co-leader Miyu Goto (-6) ate everyone's dust.
Rio Ishii (E) chokes down like the ECP
Reika Usui (+1)

I'm assuming this video won't get taken down ... starting at the 49-second mark, that's a six-iron (Miura TC-101) Saso nuked at a 195-yard flag. Her driver swing speed is 46.5 m/s (about 104 MPH).
