For me this post neatly encapsulates the sad state of US women's golf. Especially nice in Nichols's article was a completely random out of context snark at Sung Hyun Park's "limited English".
If the US LPGA were to shutter, I think the sport as a whole might actually grow stronger. That is to say, the US LPGA has become an energy suck. Every Westerner involved with women's golf seems weary, defeated and like they want out.
I'm sorry but, without actual tournaments to write about, Beth Ann's articles are getting ridiculous.
Today she writes about some guy who says he helped on marketing the Solheim Cup back in 2007.
He's put together a great women's skin games event! "It's all in place!" "Two courses are interested!" Although he won't say which ones. "Twelve players have agreed to compete!!" But "Franzen wouldn’t reveal the names of the players on his list."
Sounds great! Unfortunately there's just one little problem:
But here’s the deal: Franzen needs funding. Lots of it.
“We are trying to do that day and night,” he said of shoring up support.
Gee, I have a great idea for a women's tournament too...better than this guy's!! Beth Ann should talk to me...all I need is the funding.
