This is a bit off topic but neither Jin Young Ko or Sophie Popov got sponsor invites to the CME. They went to Natalie Gulbis and Sarah Kemp They will now have to earn their way in with a high finish at this week's open. Popov will need a 14th place finish...and Ko will need to finish in the top 4. What a waste of picks...this is unexplainable to me. Kemp is a 'CME Ambassador', which I guess means they sponsor her. Gulbis' pick is a total joke; they might as well have given it to Paige whatshername. Does Gulbis even play anymore? This might be Jin Young's last event of the season unless she steps on the gas tomorrow. I know she isn't the type, but I hope she uses it as extra motivation.

I didn't see this when I was watching during the day -- KLPGA player Yu Jin Sung made one of two aces on Thursday (the other was by the eventual leader Amy Olson). Her reaction is priceless! And no joke -- this is what was on her shoe! This is why she points to them after the shot. At her previous event on the KLPGA, the ADT-Caps, Sung made an ace as well, meaning she has made aces in two consecutive events. What is it with this girl and aces? She says that she next wants to get a pair of shoes that say 'champion' on them. Below: Sung shows off a hole-in-one ball from the ADT-Caps:

I noticed there are more Korean and Japanese players in the field than American. Has there ever been this many Asians in a USWO field? They are the dominant force now, plain for all to see.

Gulbis plays w/ the great Jimmy Hanlin on the TV show 18 Holes. My dream foursome would include both Tony and Natalie.

Well it's all over for the talented young golfer Hee Jeong Lim. Her first trip, I believe to the U.S as a Professional Golfer wasn't what she expected. Still a learning experience that she can draw from. She don't have to worry too much about the physicals part of her game. She just need to learn to deal with the mental part better. She will be just fine when the KLPGA Tour resume. Not sure if she is qualified to play in the ANA.

It's too bad the CME couldn't hold one of their invitee spots for the USWO winner, if not otherwise qualfied.
The CME will be NatNat's seventh event of 2020...all as an invitee. She was cut from six events and withdrew from the seventh.

That would put her in the middle of the pack. edit: Maybe that would apply to LPGA players only, my bad.

This person has posted several videos (25 to 55 minutes each) from the TV Wowow broadcasts:
At 9:02, this one has Cinderella getting to -7 at #15 ... and NO Paige or Stupples:
***********
Well, I got it half-right ... Shibuno set the pace, but Moriya did not. Actually, this tournament might be OVER. Is Shibuno supposed to be scared of two amateurs? Is she supposed to be spooked by five pros (Khang, Olson, Weaver, Schmelzel, and Buhai) who have no major league wins?
Good day for Six and she still lost ground, just like everyone else.
MHL gets Okayama and Oh on Saturday
Great comeback by Kana Mikashima to play the weekend ....
... ditto for SW Bae.
Koi-why? +10

Round 2
Difficult day for the Sisters. Tomorrow does not look like must-see TV; can I handle two hours of Kerr lining up putts and Grant gushing about her wine? Or Pouty acting up? It's sure easier to put up with that if I have a horse in the race, which at the moment I don't...
Inbee has hung in there, but it didn't help bogeying her final hole. So Yeon had some real struggles today, but at least she made the cut. Poor In Gee barely missed the putt that would have put her in for the weekend.
Lee6 had a good day to get to even, and there are half a dozen great Sisters between -1 and +2, including Jin Young, Hye Jin, Sei Young, Seon Woo and Hae Ran Ryu.
Now, it will be a daunting task to come back from six - nine strokes. BUT, then again, here's the bright side: -4 is second place, and there are a lot of journeymen, over-the-hill veterans, untested amateurs and players who haven't played well in a while on the first two pages. The Sisters actually have a golden chance to make a great run. Especially if the weather changes and things get tougher.
So I'll send them many positive vibes!!!! Go Sisters, kick some butt on Moving Day!! Hwaiting!

I don't remember a U.S Women Open cut being this low. Also having nineteen golfers just making the cut.
A shout out to three of them!
So Yeon hit her approach shot in the water on eight hole. She made a double bogey to go to plus three. Made birdie on nine and eleven, bogey on 12,13,14, birdied 15. Then three straight pars to make the cut on the number.
Yui Kawamoto made bogey on fifteen to go to plus three. She made a great par save on seventeen. Drove into the fairway bunker on eighteen and had to pitch out side ways. She hit her third shot to about five feet to save par.
The star was Ji Yeong2 Kim who made birdie on the last three holes. To make the cut on the number.
