It will take place June 4-7 at Champions GC in Houston, TX. As usual, they have 25 qualifier locations, but will the ones in China, Japan and the ROK happen?
This is the first year of the new exemption criteria (see .pdf form above) ... the some of the determining factors are:
1.) Top-30 in CME points in 2019
2.) Top-10 on LPGA money list in 2020 (as of 4/15/2020)
3.) Top-75 on Rolex Rankings as of 4/15/2020
4.) Top-75 on Rolex Rankings as of 5/25/2020
5.) Anyone with an LPGA win between the last USWO and this one
6.) A top-10 in the 2019 USWO
As tournaments continue to get cancelled, these people getting antsy:
Name Rolex Ranking (March 2)
Sakura Koiwai 76 JE Shadoff 77 Jing Yan 78 Eri Okayama 79 Jenny Shin 80 Mirim Lee 83 Ji Hyun Kim 84
AVD 85 Porna P 92
Dr. Noh 96
Crusty Grrr 99 (19th on 2020 LPGA money list)

Yealimi Noh has been underwhelming in three tournaments thus far this year, she's yet to shoot -5 or better in any rounds.
She needs to earn 20 more ranking points to get inside Top-75; a good finish, solo third, will do that.

Just rename it the 2020 U.S. Women's Open Championship Invitational ... the USGA announced there will be no qualifying events for the four tournaments they'll host later this year. My assumption for the USWO is that they'll invite all the "Exempt" players and add in arbitrary percentages of amateurs and foreign pros, as well as the better LPGA pros who didn't make it into one of the Exempt categories. The USGA will release Informational PDF forms for players in June ... which is a long way off from December.

The way things have been happening; this is the only tournament that's guaranteed to be played the rest of this year. Marathon Classic won't happen unless fans are allowed. Evian, Scottish Open, British Open have quarantine issues and whether Governments allow tournaments to be held, with or without fans. It's too early to know how things will be by Walmart Championship on August 28-30. Mike Whan and LPGA have already written off 2020 year-end awards; which seems to imply no more than 10 events will be played the rest of this year. Unfortunately, every player will be one year older when 2021 season starts.

Today would have been the first day of this year's US Women's Open. The LPGA posted this collection of shots from some of the recent past winners. What were some of your favorite Open moments from the past 20 years? I'll never forget So Yeon nailing that approach on the final hole in the 2011 playoff, then realizing as she was walking up the fairway that she was going to win. Alas, she's not in the below list: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBBEZ53ANoG

Inbee third in a row at Sebonack. Na Yeon career validation at Blackwolf. But yeah, what can top In Gee's heroics. She was touched by God that day and rode to victory on a white horse just about.
2006 Annika 18-hole duel with Pat Hurst was surprisingly compelling. 2009, I remember the last hole vividly. Eun Hee Jee closed it out in style and Cristie Kerr of all people, who had to have been devastated losing a USWO in the final group, congratulated her with unforgettable grace and sportsmanship. I still can't get over it.

So Yeon birdie on the eighteenth hole in regulation got her into the playoff with Hee Kyung Seo. I believe she was leading the three hole playoff, heading to the last hole. Anyway Golf Channel will broadcast it Friday at 08:00 Pacific time. I wont have to applaud tomorrow like I did in 2011, because I know she made the birdie.
Also: Coming up on Golf Channel are more USWOMEN OPEN re-air and the 2016 Olympic.

Then there was a two shot swing on the par 5 17th, so So Yeon was in the driver's seat. Still, it would have been easy to mess up the final hole, and Ryu hit the shot of her life to clinch it. I was so thrilled; she was my favorite KLPGA golfer of the time, and for her to pull that off was incredible. EDIT: And I recall several great shots happened while bells were tolling, although I can't remember if it was Seo or Ryu that happened with. So Yeon posted this: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBDiuP4HDEb

I was on vacation during In Gee's Open win, so I was following it on my phone on twitter. I nearly lost my mind when I read the posts as she made those birdies on 16 and 17; that was a complete and utter surprise. Like with Ryu, Chun was my favorite KLPGA golfer at the time, so it was incredibly awesome to have her win it, even if I didn't actually get to see it until three days later!
Inbee at Sebonack was mind-blowing as well; her putting was unworldly that week. And Birdie Kim's bunker blast. Will never forget Morgan Pressel's reaction in the fairway.
Lee6 in 2019 attacking the Hole of Death and making birdie was also pretty special, even if she ended her round somewhat shakily.
Hye Jin hitting her tee shot in the water in 2017 was one I'd like to forget.

In a match yesterday I hit a pure 4-iron onto a green into a stiff breeze. My feet didn't touch the ground as I walked to the green.
Not only are they holding the US Open trophy at the end, they just played their 4 best rounds of pressure golf. What a feeling.

Even though Cristie Kerr wins it, it has been entertaining watching the 2007 Pine Needles USWO. Best was seeing the young future hall-of-famer Inbee Park paired with Se Ri Pak, who was inducted in this very year. Se Ri finished off the tournament nicely with birdies on 17 and 18 - the 3rd and 4th hardest holes.

By the way it will be on FS1, not Golf Channel. Golf Channel will be showing the 2016 Olympic Women Golf at 16:00 Eastern Today.
