Trying to keep this thread golf-related ... starting last Saturday, NJ golf courses were classified as "non-essential" businesses and got shuttered. I guess there are officials who think golfers are just like brainless sweaty teenagers banging into each other for rebounds under a hoop. Of course, this shutdown is idiotic - playing golf is perfectly safe - you have plenty of space to keep your distance from other players and we don't have to pull out the flags anymore. Someone started a petition to reverse this decision, but I'm not optimistic ... heaven forbid that people would derive enjoyment from playing any of three NJ courses named after Mr. Orange. Well, Friday looks like the next good day for hitting golf balls in the park ... will be 64F at 2 PM.

Whan moved the Evian Championship from July 23-26 to the former Olympic dates of Aug. 6-9. Also, he must instruct the horndogs to clean up their act.
******
ShopRite/Acer is still scheduled for May 29-31. Only 22 positive CV19 tests have been discovered in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties combined, per the NJ CV19 website ... which has not been updated since Wed. at 2 PM, about 47 hours ago.

Now ANA will have send out another E-Mail asking people if they want a Refund. Because of the date change, but i will still hang on to my Tickets. No matter how many times they change it.
Edit: My bad, ignore I was thinking about the ANA instead of Evian.

Per Google mush, the article above caught up with the whereabouts of Weiwei Zhang. Since getting a T-13 in a Symetra event in Florida in early March, she's been holed up in the SS Feng's Los Angeles residence with a couple of other Chinese golfers, who have decided to stay in the US for now. Zhang has decided to go back to China. Although she is originally from Hubai, she lives and trains on Hainan Island and her parents are also there. She'll have to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving, but figures it's worth it for the two months of training she can do after that.

What an ordeal for all the players! I hope they'll play more tournaments this year; otherwise they'll wake up in 2021 and one year older.

I have no inside dope, but I think the JLPGA will resume play in April. The first event will probably have no spectators so everyone doesn't freak out. By any per-capita measure, the infection rate in Japan has been extremely low ... on the other hand, they hardly test at all compared to Korea or the U.S. It's a different kind of response over there:

Got in a long session of 8-irons at the park yesterday (73F), although I lost two shag balls out of fifteen. The grass is starting to grow again, so they better rev up the lawnmowers soon.
Aside from doing grocery runs to ShopRite when I visit my parents every few days, I've been mostly unproductive during the lockdown ... like today, I was looking up Chuck & Bob scenes from 'Soap' episodes on YouTube. Here's one of the best:

I visited the Legacy Golf Resort Driving Range today. I guess they didn't get the Memo about Social Distancing. There were threesome and foursome teeing off back to back. They put free balls on the Range so you didn't have to visit the Club House. Actually there are a lot of courses still open, for now. Because people are pressuring the Governor to lock down.

I gotta throw in with legitimategolf ... there is a whiff of phoniness from RLB. I have no problem, and certainly not because of her IG above, which is a real issue. Don't get me started on that. And she seems well-liked on tour, especially by someone you may be familiar with. https://www.instagram.com/p/BXMExpqA5vd

Corona Virus era golf content on social media is getting pretty sappy. They can’t let a few genuine displays of our shared humanity, like people singing from balconies, pass without piling on with their own versions.
I’d go as far as to say there are a lot of sappy nuts out there enjoying this whole thing. The same people who get choked up if a computer generated Coke and Pepsi can hugged.

Bravo to Summit Golf Brands, who I never heard of before.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YL91Rl0Pe But, I sure know about one if its brands, Zero Restriction. I bought a ZR M2 long sleeve windshirt (U.S.-made) during an off-season clearance at Mattawang GC over 10 years ago and I still use it - GREAT product. I don't know about the current stuff ... JM Green is one of its staffers.

JLPGA cancelled Studio Alice and KKT Vantelin events. The first one not cancelled is Fujisankei Ladies (April 24-26).

The Worcester Railers' home arena is being transformed into a 250 bed field hospital due to the pandemic, and other sites across the Commonwealth such as the BCEC in Boston are being identified for similar facilities. In Massachusetts we're into double digits in fatalities: 122 out of 7738 total cases as of this afternoon and over 51000 have been tested so far.
Wimbledon is the first grand slam event to be cancelled outright due to COVID-19, unprecedented in peacetime. Postponing it would have been problematic given the grass surface the event is normally contested on, and playing behind closed doors was also ruled out.www.cbc.ca/sports/tennis/wimbledon-cancelled-coronavirus-pandemic-1.5517456Kevin
