We all remember the incredible Yuna Kim and her Gold Medal in Vancouver, but since Sochi, the Koreans have been looking for another star to take up the mantle. Meet You Young. 15-years old, she stunned the Russians by winning the Gold Medal at the recently concluded Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland. She nailed a triple axel, something even Kim never did, and seven other jumps to win the free skate and the gold. The Russians claimed silver and bronze (one reason I never follow this sport anymore: the bronze medalist fell twice and still won Bronze. Sure, whatever). You Young Delivers Brilliant Free Skate To Win GoldHighlights and English language interviews: Here's the actual routine: I couldn't find it in English...

Here's a nice interview with You Young. She won her first Korean National Championship at 11 (!) and was the first Korean in history to hit a triple axel in a senior competition.

Not surprisingly, South Korea is doing well in short track speed skating. Watch Seo Whi Min wipe the floor with her competition in the 500 m. This is usually a fairly close race, but not here. (if you can't get it to play you can see it here: Seo Whi Min 500 ) She also won the gold a few days earlier in the 1000 m. Another rising star for South Korea in the sport!
