Any thoughts of the LPGA's Player of the Decade bracket? By stats alone, it's Imbee for sure: 6 majors, 18 wins, 2 Vare trophies, 2 $$ list leader...but will probably turn into a popularity contest. And then who? Others with best stats for the decade: Yani Tseng (4 majors, 13 wins), Stacy Lewis (2 majors, 12 wins), Lydia (2 majors, 15 wins) - but I'll bet none of these win it.

If Tony J. was still blogging, I would be curious to know what his ranking system would have placed the ladies. I recall from a couple of years ago how Yani was still very much the strongest player of the ongoing decade according to his system. It may still be the same.
My opinion? It really comes down to three players: Yani Tseng, Lydia Ko and Inbee Park. The first two seemed for a time to be able to dominate like Annika or Lorena but ultimately faded (somewhat for Lydia, utterly for Yani). The 2010's were the decade of the South Korean player so my choice has to be the leader of the pack (Pak?) Inbee Park.
One of my favorite stats is career money. What a bright comet Lorena Ochoa was! Still fifth on the list in only 175 tournaments played. Just think how she could have affected this bracket if she had decided to play a longer career.
Song-hee Kim is still in the top 100. Who remembers her? Where is she now?

It is strange about Tony's LPGA report - last one early Oct, only 2 in Sept - after being around once a week through May.
Yes, objectively it's got to be Park (Imbee, not my fav Sung Hyun). And Yani had all her decade-worthy stats from 2010-2012! Which is damn impressive. Song-hee Kim - tks for inspiring me to google her, haha.

Of course it's Inbee! She not only had the most wins and the most Majors, she also is the only Hall of Famer from this decade, won three Majors in a row in 2013, and, oh yeah, won the gold medal. I'll cop a line from So Yeon Ryu: Inbee is the 'true' #1.

She contended a lot but could never get that win. I don't know if this one Tournament had anything to do with her decline. Don't remember which Tournament it was that she was in contention. She hit a ball in the water on two different holes and never contented again. But I also think that later on she was dealing with an injury.

As great as Yani and Lydia were, they didn't win the USWO.

Yani was Player of the Year twice to Inbee’s one.

Ya Ni was unbeatable for about a year and a half, had another decent year after that, then went completely into the toilet for the rest of the decade. 1.5 years does not a decade make! Inbee started the decade by making top tens in all four Majors. She ended the decade with a tournament named after her that attracts most of the top Koreans to play during their off season. Nuff said. PS - Inbee stomped Lydia in Rio when Lydia was #1 and at the height of her powers and Inbee was injured and hadn't had a top ten in three months. Five shot win.

How is this even a contest? www.lpga.com/news/2019-lpga-pod-seed-1-vs-16-and-8-vs-9Inbee Park vs. Michelle Wie Inbee Park, the No. 1 overall seed in the LPGA Player of the Decade Bracket, will face No. 16 Michelle Wie in the first match-up in the Round of 16. Park’s overwhelming number of accolades and accomplishments over the last decade on the LPGA Tour earned her the No. 1 seed. During the last 10 years, the Korean recorded 18 overall wins, including six majors, won the Olympic gold medal in Rio and became the youngest player to qualify for the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame. Wie also enjoyed an impressive 10 years, including her first major victory at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open. That same year, she also won the inaugural Rolex ANNIKA Major Award and over the decade made five Team USA appearances in the Solheim Cup and UL International Crown.

Inbee Park is the player of the decade of course but there is a case for Lydia Ko as the “player” of the decade given what she accomplished for her age. There are practically too many to list.
It’s Young Tom Morris then Lydia Ko.

They also have So Yeon Ryu vs. Sung Hyun Park. This really is a good match up. I think I'd take So Yeon merely because she's had a longer run and been great through most of it, but Park has had a more concentrated run of greatness the past few years.

It wouldn't be close if So Yeon had won more tournaments. Especially the ones that she had a chance to win. That being said I still think that she had a great Decade.

Results: Receiving 85% of the fan votes, Inbee Park has advanced past Michelle Wie in the Kathy Whitworth Bracket and will move on to the Round of 8 in the LPGA Player of the Decade bracket. In her next match-up, No. 1 Park will square off against No. 8 Sung Hyun Park, who edged out No. 9 So Yeon Ryu with 57% of the fan votes.www.lpga.com/news/2019-player-of-the-decade-kathy-whitworth-bracket-review
