Nice opening round for MJ Hur.
So Yeon made five birdies, but she just can't seem to eliminate bogeys. She had three and one double. However this is her first live tournament in quite a while. So it may not be all that bad.

Round 1 The scoring is once again too easy, but hopefully the wind will make things a little more interesting tomorrow. Briefly saw Inbee, who hit a great shot on the final hole, then missed a five footer for birdie. Seems to be her problem this year. In Gee was perfectly fine; 261 driving, 12/18 greens, 29 putts, but still only carded two birdies. So Yeon, however, was all over the map. Yeesh she hit some stinkers today. Still, it's great to see her back, and hopefully she can buckle down. Sung Hyun was also up and down all day; eagles, double bogies, the works. Among the leader, another great round for MJ Hur, and Mirim Lee actually is on a leaderboard. Would love to see her contend. Sisters hwaiting!!

Amy Olson beat Pressel by 10 shots.
Someone's ears must be burning...Inkster's bankrupt insurance policy has cut that gap to 5 shots after 12 holes...but, Olson hasn't teed off yet.
This would be a refreshing change: The next USA Solheim captain should announce that she will NOT use her two freebie picks on anyone who is "past her prime".

Looks like Mi Hyang might cover her expenses this week ... -2 thru 11 holes and -1 overall.

Cousin It Suzuka Yamaguchi on Thursday ... she punched her ticket to the next LPGA Q-Series weeks ago; has ten straight trunk slams.

Oh boy, white knuckle time ... MHL lost a stroke and is Even with only the par-4 9th hole left to play (which she birdied yesterday) ... could use another birdie as her current T-69 is barely sustainable.

Annie during the pro-am ... never saw a hybrid cap/visor before ... we won't be seeing it on the weekend.

Plus three through sixteen holes. Looks like So Yeon will get an early start for her trip to Japan. Her swing doesn't look that much different. But when you start hitting it left, your score suffers. That usually a result of a guiding mode, than thrusting your swing.
Youngin Chun is also close to missing the cut. A few holes left to recover.

Okay, I'm not watching the leaderboard anymore and I'm not watching the broadcast. MHL got as high at T-67, but dropped back to T-70. There needs to be a lot of BAD golf this afternoon.

At #136 on the world rankings, Sakura Yokomine is a bit late to be making a push for Japan's Olympic team, but winning in the big leagues should give her a significant boost, I think. I never thought her swing was reliable enough to hold up under the full length of an LPGA event, but my reverse karma is well-documented.

This has been a strange year on the LPGA. So many of the top or near the top players missing cuts. It used to be when they didn't have their "A" game. Their "B" or "C" game got them at least in the top thirty. It not that the courses are getting that much tougher. Because there are still lots of birdies being made out there. Maybe it is just been a fluke year and it will return to normal.

So Yeon's play has seemed so enervated recently. Her four top tens all happened during a six tournament stretch between April and June including a second at the US Open so she'll make the CME Final. But I don't see her doing well there when the time comes.
By contrast, MJ Hur's play has been invigorating in spite of that double bogey on 16. She says she likes the wind. What are they forecasting for the weekend?
After round one, I mixed up Parks. I thought it was Namdalla at the bottom but it was Rocket. Didn't matter after today as both missed the cut. How can Sung Hyun choke exactly like Escallon?

Round 2 Wow, brutal week for my faves. So Yeon, Youngin and Sei Young Kim all miss the cut, as does defending champ Sung Hyun Park. And In Gee *just* missed the cut, T71. Argh! The top of the leaderboard is pretty light of Koreans, too. MJ did have a strong day, although a late double bogey cut her lead in half. She tends to be a player who either has it going on or is way off, so hopefully that's a good sign for tomorrow and Sunday. But other than her, Inbee, Mirim and Chella, not much happening for the Sisters this week. I hope Inbee can pick it up and notch a top ten. When was the last time both Jutanugarns, Thompson and Danielle Kang all missed the cut? Weird week. Sisters Hwaiting!

I am a major fan of Ms Hur ever since she won in Alabama and cried. Super sweet lady with a big appetite and lovely golf swing. I was a little starstruck the one time I saw her in person. Her new husband is such a lucky guy. Going to enjoy watching the coverage today. Of course that will probably cause big jinx as always but hey what can I do. Gotta live life.

It was windy in the afternoon, but not that bad in the morning. When most of them missed the cut. Beside they are pro-golfers, so that's no excuse...adjust. Not the first time that they have played in the wind.

Not everybody is up to think their way around a Pete Dye course.
There were some interesting shots out there. The pitch shot to a very elevated green I saw was cool. Not sure if it was a par 3 they all missed or a par 4 they can drive to the base of the hill.
Bronte skulled her flopper way past the hole.
