Castren herself was a 'whoever that is' before last week...

We're fortunate that the Rolex site has a download function, because its online filter function really sucks.
IRELAND - Leona Maguire (69) is shooting her way into The Games ... teammate would be Olivia Mehaffey (771), who is still at Arizona St.
JAPAN - NASA (11) is still a lock ... second spot is between Mone Inami (25) and Akaya Fure (28) ... unless Shibuno Fever (31) goes crazy at AAC this week.
USA - At least one spot still up for grabs ... five Yanks are ranked 18th thru 37th ... if any of them WIN this week, while Korda One stinks it up, oh boy, the GIC will demand a recount.
CHINA - For the second spot, it's nunchucks at ten paces for Xi Yu Lin (68) and Yu Liu (71).
THAILAND - Ariya (21) will not take a dive for Moriaya (33) ... and you couldn't prove otherwise.
HONG KONG - Is Tiffany Chan (215) high enough now to get in?
NORWAY - Is Marianne Skarpnord (259) high enough now to get in?
ITALY - Is Giulia Molinaro (280) high enough now to get in?

Right, I forgot about Ireland being all together, so Steph Meadow, not Mehaffey, will join Maguire.

Week of June 27: After the KPMG. The teams are set! There was really no doubt about it after the US Women's Open, but Hyo Joo Kim solidified her spot with a top five at the KPMG. Tip of the cap to Jin Young Ko, who fell out of the #1 spot after around two years at the top. During that span, she became the Sister who spent the most total weeks at the top in history. Hope she can get back to the top soon! On the team: Ranking Move Name Points 2 (-1) Jin Young Ko 8.79 3 (-1) Inbee Park 8.44 4 Same Sei Young Kim 7.51 6 (+2) Hyo Joo Kim 6.09 Better luck next time! 16 Same So Yeon Ryu 4.10 18 (+1) Min Ji Park 4.03 20 Same Ha Na Jang 3.87 25 (-2) Jeongeun Lee6 3.50 28 (-1) Hae Ran Ryu 3.25 33 (-1) Sung Hyun Park 2.88 36 (-1) Mirim Lee 2.81 37 (-1) A Lim Kim 2.79 39 (-1) Hye Jin Choi 2.75 40 (-1) MJ Hur 2.73 In Gee moved up 1 to 48, her best ranking of the year!

I assume Castren's leap to #71 gets her into Tokyo. Her teammate will probably be Sanna Nuutinen (#238), whoever that is. It would appear that Minea Blomqivst's presence on the LPGA didn't generate much excitement for Finnish women's golf.
Did my negative vibes have a positive influence? Sanna (no wins) is tied for 1st halfway through the Green Eggs & Ham Big Green Egg Open in the Netherlands. Another Finn is T-4, three shot back. These might be warm-up acts ... until Thitikul (two shots back) crushes everyone.
Didn't know Sanna played at TCU.

Some interesting facts for the July 12th rankings:
- Hyo Joo climbed to 5th, so that means the Korean Olympic team is now ranked 2-3-4-5 (!). - Min Ji Park climbed to 14th following her 6th win of the year, so she is now the 5th ranked Korean in the world. Next after her is So Yeon, who dropped to 18th. - A Lim Kim dropped out of the top 40 (43rd) and Hye Jin Choi is hovering there (she's 39th now).

In Gee actually moved three spots up to 46 this week, her highest ranking since 2019. Small victories!

In Gee finished 2021 in 35th place, her best of the year. That puts her 11th among the Sisters.
