The GIC is all in behind Lexi. Wonder what Hans & Franz are thinking now. "Seven years into the controversial declaration making Evian the LPGA’s fifth major, this underscores the nature of that controversy, beyond its breaking golf’s tradition of four majors. It’s yet more concern about the nature of the course’s suitability as a meaningful major championship test." www.golfchannel.com/news/lexi-thompson-critical-evian-course-very-thankful-miss-cutLexi is too big to fail. Blaming France will work though. Oh crap. What a big overgrown baby. Yeesh. Own your failure, Lexi.

I will get this over with and go to non whiners. Thompson is ranked number three World Rankings. Finished seventeen shots behind the leader. She blames it on bad bounces and not course management. The course is not set up for you to swing away and hope for the best. Bingo. For once a Major where she doesn't have five - seven holes where her length allows her to make up for general crappiness, and all she can do is whine. Imagine what it's like for the shorter hitters who can't count on two - three eagle chances/round to rescue them?

Hans & Franz strike me as handsy/jokey guys in front of the cameras, but brutal cutthroats when it comes to business. Lexi's original post was not going to stand. And, instead of heading to the British for some early practice, she must serve penance signing autographs on the rope line at the Evian this weekend. And smile while she's doing it.
Mike Whan did not have a good day today.
And Lexi may have to WD from the British due to the whiplash she sustained on Instagram today.

Thru practice and two rounds at Evian, GettyImages.com has eight pics of Maria Fassi and none for MHL, but who's counting?
BTW, did the broadcasters mention what injury she had at Marathon two weeks ago?
The Korean media is doing its part.
**********
We have a good race for low am this weekend:
Albane Valenzuela (-4)
Yuka Yasuda (-2)

Hard to figure the scores the first two days. Although we have a few stars on the first page of the leaderboard, many more stars missed the cut:
Lexi Lee6 Munoz (first missed cut of year) Minjee (first missed cut of year) Lydia Danielle Kang
Tough to explain.

Well that was one cluster#$!% of a day for the GIC. First, their designated Next Superstar shanked her way to her 4th missed cut in a row. Then, their designated Current Superstar missed the cut by an even greater margin and rushed onto social media to blame her poor performance on the golf course for turning her "good shots" into bad ones. Then proclaiming how thankful she is for not having to put herself through that for another two days..."so bye." The LPGA might not have a Final Round Queen or a Sexy Queen, but it has the undisputed Drama Queen. The final indignity for the GIC at the end of the day was four Koreans at the top of the leaderboard...where the promotional push should have been in the first place.

I'm not sold on Vision 54 "fixing" MHL for this tournament...she has played Evian well numerous times, so this is nothing new. Let her do a session before she plays the Seaview and then we'll talk. Meanwhile, Mi Hyang is swinging the club great and she looks great, too.
I've watched the first ten holes and can't believe how sh***y the fairways look. Who would pay money to play this "resort" course? Golf is a snob sport in France, what do they know? I don't buy the weather excuse...I had the JLPGA broadcast on earlier and those fairways were pristine...and it's hot there, too.
Yasuda is up by one shot over Valenzuela for low am...both players still on the course.

BTW, I noticed MHL using a Bettinardi putter today...worked great the first two days...stunk today. This must be a recent change...she had been with Odyssey for years and was using one at Meijer in June.

Interesting comment from Grandma Judy today...said J. Kupcho reminded her of Kathy Whitworth. She didn't mention any particular item that JK excels at. It was a backhanded compliment, I think...ask people who was the greatest woman golfer, they'll say either Annika or Mickey Wright. No one mentions KW, even though she won more times (88) than anyone. I did a little a digging...it seems that KW had a swing that was unorthodox or visually unappealing and sometimes lousy. On the other hand, her putting was crazy good...like Nicklaus, when she absolutely had to make a putt, she made it.
Kupcho showed me some real guts on the Augusta back nine in April. She's been wildly inconsistent as a pro, but she may have gotten herself into the Solheim equation if Captain for Life wants a new face (and Gillman really blew it this week). I wonder if deep down she is sick of being equated with Fassi.
********
Uh oh...The Old Ko trick of feeding goodies to disarm a dangerous opponent...worked like a charm again.
During Friday's rain delay...check out Dr. Noh on the scoreboard.
F & J said they copied The Masters by putting in these type of chairs...but these are better because they have holes so you won't sit in a puddle. Is that Whan in the upper right corner?

Great Leaderboard for the sisters, even with the so call terrible fairways. I thought the main purpose was ball striking not pretty fairways striking. Ok! anybody else want to join the Lexi crowd of dissing the golf course.
Should be an interesting final round.
Nice round by So Yeon five birdies and one bogey. She only missed two greens, so her ball striking was excellent. She can do this, just need to put more of these rounds together.

Round 3 What a fantastic leaderboard for the Sisters, the best of the year for sure. The top four, five of the top six, and a bunch of other good results besides. And that's despite Sei Young Kim messing up the final par 5 on Saturday. Hyo Joo has dealt with a lot of injury issues, but she seems fairly healthy now, and boy is she getting it done. Had some fantastic putts, a wonderful chip-in, and some other brilliance besides. Will she buckle now that she has a chance to get a win again, or will she brush aside all the chasers? Sung Hyun is just one back, and has been mostly great, but she showed some of her weaker aspects late yesterday when she missed two very short birdies to allow Hojo to take the lead. Will the Terminator show up tomorrow? Jin Young had some ground to make up, but the leaders didn't give her much chance. Still, she got into the final group. She had some great stuff, but also a few dicey moments. Inbee also was up and down, but I can sense her being ready to lay down a great round. I would love to see her put it all together on Sunday. Mi Hyang, Sei Young, Chella and MJ Hur are also in position for great finishes. Shout out to So Yeon for a 67 that moved her close to the top 20. Good luck tomorrow, Sisters! Hwaiting!!!!

Watching replay now. Really gorgeous three-pack of slow-mo driver swings from the Park, Kim, Lee group just now. So much beautiful fundamentals on display. Parents of aspiring American girl golfers--this is who you train your kid's attention on, not Lexi and Stacy and Paula.
