For the first time in history, a Korean diver has won a medal in a world championship diving competition. And it came in front of a home crowd!
Su Ji Kim won the bronze in the 1m springboard; she is the first Korean diver to ever get a medal in this event, and only the second, after swimmer Park Tae Hwan, to win a medal in any diving or swimming competition. Her win came at the FINA Swimming and Diving World Championship, taking place now in Gwangju, Korea. Her medal is the first at this year's competition for the Koreans.
