Congratulation to Shanshan Feng for the Marathon win. A golfer friend asked her how did you play today. Her reply was I shot twenty under par for the tournament. The friend that's great, did you win. No, I was tied with eight other golfers in fifteenth place. The friend really!!! ! There's easy, and there's ridiculous. The top 20 players shot better than 20 under par? How many 61s, 62s, 63s? And it's not just that, it's just as likely to be a third tier golfers shooting those scores as a star. It really does a disservice to the league and the hard working women on it when they do this. I think I'm pretty much going to ignore this event from now on; a black hole on the schedule where an event should be.

No, I don't believe So Yeon was at the tournament. UL had an event earlier in the week I believe. Shanshan and So Yeon were both there. I believe that photo was taken there.

The Founders is pretty much the same thing. Both courses are benign resort courses with bland greens. With all the rain that has fallen in the area the green were very receptive. Temps were high, and wind was low. All the ingredients needed for a birdie fest. I guess they could lengthen the course, but it's already playing over 6600 yds, and I think they'd still eat it up given the wide open throats leading to the greens.

No surprise. I dunno. Sounds like less than a 50/50 chance to me. "At this point, it's up in the air," Hill said. "We'll be looking at the financial aspects of year three and base our financial decision on it. It's a great tourism and marketing event, but we want to wait for the final numbers and get our analysis done."
Hill declined to say whether the tribe has made or lost money by hosting the tournament. That means they lost money.

Would like to hear Cannlinny's opinion on this...the LPGA should definitely NOT abandon the Wisconsin market. They had a lot of foot traffic for this event...just do it with a different business model that doesn't depend on people buying souvenir tomahawks at the casino gift shop. I thought they were overly generous offering a $2 million purse...which did NOT guarantee having all the big names show up anyway. Maybe a setup like the ShopRite/Acer would work for this area...who is the big supermarket chain in this area? Have a three-day tournament for less money, two days of pro-ams, and you can avoid the Oneida businesses without feeling guilty. I don't even step foot in Atlantic City when I attend the ShopRite/Acer. Oh, and there must be at least one old-school, historic, and HARD golf course in the Green Bay area that they can play at (if not, try Milwaukee). Enough of the Thornberry Creek goat track.

If only Whan had 39 weeks on network TV, or 150 Brooke Hendersons, this wouldn't have happened! Seriously, RIP Thornberry, but now it's time for a yearly event at Blackwolf Run.
