This week's press release noted some of the players committed to this one, including Annie Park, Wie, Lexi, Webb, Anna N., Marina, Kerr, The ECP, Creamer, Pressel, Cheyenne, C. Kim, Muni, Spilkova and Lucky 6. Sponsor exemptions were given to Nat Nat and V.E. Carta of Duke U.
Early entrants in the Monday, June 3 qualifier include Jimin Kang, Simin Feng and Brynn Walker of UNC.

The hotel must have been renovated on the inside...it looks the same on the outside. It's across the street from the Bay Course.

World Long Drive will return to Atlantic City CC June 3-5. I'll probably go to the later rounds on Wednesday which start at 6 PM (carried by GC)...I can't take it seriously, but in fairness I should attend at least once. Last year's event was a travesty...with a 20 MPH cross breeze, some matches lasted forever waiting for someone to hit the grid (so narrow that the right border ran through a bunker) once.
Sandra Carlborg won the women's division last year.

crap...CRAP...CRAP!
This may be an anomaly for 2019, as the USWO is not far from her U.S. base. Perhaps she planned a mid-season vacation...after this Sunday, she can check up on the car wash, burn up some of her ANA money ($276K), lay around the pool at Cobblestone Park GC and get FAT. I can't blame her for skipping this event for the first time...that course has vexed her more times than not...she probably had nightmares from the fescue mounds surrounding the 11th green. As for 2020, ShopRite and KPMG will be three weeks apart (I think) in roughly the same general area, so the odds are good that I'll see her twice next year.
Meanwhile, I'll have a chance to check out a few Plan 'B' candidates. They rustled up 139 warm bodies, including Laura Diaz and Maggie Will (age 54 1/2). Maggie was a past employer of Larry the Looper...he's working Valley Forge this week for Min Lee (I'm not going this year)...he doesn't have anyone lined up for ShopRite yet. Min Lee is in the Monday qualifier, so maybe he'll continue with her. Two spots are open for Monday qualifiers, two more for sponsor exemptions, and one for the USWO winner (if not in the field already).

If Mamiko wins the USWO tomorrow, do you think she'll accept a spot in the ShopRite? She's in the field for the Yonex Ladies next week, but its total purse of $646K is peanuts compared to ShopRite.
Two sponsor invites were added, Alison Walshe and Brooke Pancake...three spots left to fill.
Looking over this field...holy crap, even The Rocket is skipping this one. I don't get it...she's not playing the USWO this week, so it's not like she'd be worn out coming up here. Oh, and she's playing golf I would watch this year...six starts beginning with Bank of Hope and no trunk slams. MJ Hur is skipping too, even though she's not playing the USWO and she has had a really good season so far.
Phooey, no J. Song this year...I watched her open with a 65 two years ago.
Holy moly, Inky won it two years ago and she's not showing up.
No D. Kang this year...I'll have to find someone else who talks s#%# during the pro-ams. Well, they'll have the old standby Christina Kim.
No Winbee, no Ryu, no Ko (Old & New), no Sung Hung, no HoJo, no Minjee, no Wie...JTBC Golf wants a rebate from Whan.
Laura Davies will be here, of course...the casinos insisted on it.
No Mo Martin...what's going on, she hasn't played since ANA. Answer: Per IG, she is rehabbing a back injury.
Katelyn Dambaugh, a rare lefty pro, will tee it up for the first time since Portland last August. I don't know what she's been doing since then...hasn't played the Symetra Tour since 2017. KD is an ex-SC Gamecock and MHL knew her back then.
Looked up big hitter Joanna Klatten (8th in driving distance at 278.0)...wow, she stinks...kicked to the curb 8 times in 8 starts. But, she's saved at #113 on the priority list by a medical waiver asterisk.
Laura Diaz is showing up again...remember how she opened with a 66 last year? She played seven rounds on the LPGA last year with a cumulative score of +3...frickin' good for someone who's retired.
Looked up Giulia Molinaro...has played only Lotte and Pure Silk this year, but made the cut both times...watched her play a little two or three years ago at ShopRite...at #147 on the priority list, she'll have many chances to kick up some dust.
The Monday qualifier field is final at 33 names...Min Lee's chances look pretty good against this bunch...she leads by one shot going into Sunday at Valley Forge. Watch for Tarheel Brynn Walker...played well in April's NJ USWO qualifier and she won ShopRite's Monday qualifier in 2016.

philknjSeoulsisters.com fan Grant Boone should be there. Given the depth of field, I'm sure he'll be researching some of the lesser-known Sisters here on the site. If you see him, tell him to start posting!

They had an amateur-only qualifier today to add one more player to the Monday qualifier field and Sydney Yermish won it with a 73...saw her at the April USWO qualifier at Forsgate CC.
*****
Lucky 6 was already in the field, so who's next on the priority list?

Min Lee was added to the field...she won't have to play the qualifier today...and poor Larry the Looper is off to Indiana looking for working on the Symetra Tour.

This was what I felt like a few years ago when everybody and her aunt skipped Portland. I feel your pain!

Ah ha, did I call it right? Brynn Walker got one of the two qualifier spots
As for Eunice Kim, never heard of her before ... I assume this is the same person as Yu Eun Eunice Kim on the Symetra website. She played that tour (badly) in 2017 ... no starts in 2018.

Lucky 6 is not doing any of the pro-ams...I don't know if this has been normal for her week-to-week. I counted only three all-Korean amateur groups...they'll be playing with BadA$$, Youngin Chun and Mallory Blackwelder.
UPDATE/CORRECTION: The Wednesday pro-am sheet says "JeongEun Lee", so I assumed it was referring to JEL 5. However, the LPGA website doesn't show Unlucky Five in the field, so it must be Lucky Six in the pro-am. Boy, if the USGA can put a '6' in a trophy, why can't they do the same with a pro-am sheet?
V.E. Carta is listed as a pro doing a pro-am on the Pines course on Wednesday. The field on the LPGA website shows her as an amateur. Is she turning pro at this event? Amateurs should not work for nothing by filling the place of pros during a pro-am.
*********
Preliminary outline of my sked:
Wed. early AM - Galloway pro-am where some interesting names from the past will be in the early groups.
Wed. late AM - Seaview Bay & Pines pro-ams (I normally don't go out on the Pines course since it is far from everything else).
Wed. 5 PM - Arrive at Atlantic City CC for the Long Drive contest (final rounds start at 6 PM) ... rain might be an issue ... don't know what they'll do about that.
Thu. early AM - Seaview Bay & Pines pro-ams
Thu. PM - Tee it up at Vineyard National GC...first time there...I haven't played or practiced once this year...this could be ugly.
Friday early AM - Round One at Seaview Bay course...I won't know the groups until I arrive there.
