Panasonic had an event on the Step Up tour for three years, but they have been promoted to the big tour in 2019. It kicks off Friday at Hamano GC, about 25 miles SE of Tokyo, across the bay. Many of Team Japan's amateurs will be there, including Yuka Yasuda.
It looks like TV Tokyo is now blocking the link below, but they will carry the event.
SAT - 4 PM (Japan time) SUN - 4 PM

this tournament has significance in that it is the first Jlpga tournament of the new japan era. each era coincides with the beginning and end of an Emperor's time on the throne. the new Emperor Naruhito started May 1,2019.
glass panels: it seems that the glass panels are part of an Alba photo contest commemorating the new era which has been named the "Reiwa" era. The japanese character for "Reiwa" appears on most of the glass panels along with the players signature. currently Serena Aoki is winning the contest with nearly 1800 votes. I always reconize the characters of her japanese name since we share the same last name.
phil recently posted a photo of guys wearing black jackets with a "Wakimoto/87" logo on their jackets. you will notice on Hana Wakimoto's glass panel her signature includes the number "87" which i think stands for 87centimeters (which is 34 inches)....nuff said.

Unfortunately, Yuka Yasuda announced she was a WD due to a recurring back pain...scary that she was playing hurt last week and still wiped out everyone in the Asia-Pac Amateur...it moved her up four spots to 11th on WAGR. Her next four events are supposed to be the JLPGA's Bridgestone & Resort Trust (late May thru early June), as well as Evian & WBO (late July thru early August).

The Round Two broadcast was quite late before it started, so I hardly stayed up for it, but it's here:
The cut was -2 which JY Shin made on the number...has only 40 players to jump over on Sunday.
RANK PLAYER SCORE TODAY 1R 2R 3R TOTAL 1T Min-Young Lee -9 -7 70 65 135 1T Ai Suzuki -9 -2 65 70 135 3T Ah-Reum Hwang -8 -4 68 68 136 3T Satsuki Oshiro -8 -4 68 68 136 3T Kana Nagai -8 -3 67 69 136 3T Mone Inami -8 -2 66 70 136 7T Minami Katsu -7 -4 69 68 137 7T Ritsuko Ryu -7 -3 68 69 137 7T Mami Fukuda -7 -3 68 69 137
Starting at 28:24 of the video above, Kana Nagai took 72 seconds to make a par putt of no more than three feet on the 15th green...which is just fine by me.
Ai Suzuki
Min Young Lee and Jae Eun Chung (-6), who I'd like to see hang in there for her 1st win, but I don't think it'll happen.
Erina Hara (-6) and Rumi Yoshiba (-5)
BML (MC) ... never saw this guy on her bag before.
Ah Reum Hwang
Natsuki Hatano (-2)
Nana Suganuma (-6)

First, let's see Yui Kawamoto's lucrative swing starting at 38:49 below:
*******
The broadcast started late again, plus they had a rain delay that included hail, and the broadcast ended on the 16th green with Minami Katsu taking forever to look over a long par putt. I haven't found any video of what happened after that.

Chicken Katsu should play at the Kyochon Honey Chicken Open on the KLPGA next year. Talk about synchronicity! Congrats on her win. Better luck next time to the ageless Mi Jeong Jeon.
