Obviously don't need to tell you all a thing about Asian golf. Was just speaking rhetorically, and maybe a little too fired up over the significance of an Asian winning the big title, in the "Kung flu" era, in the US, in the antebellum south, in Georgia etc.

I'm not a super religious follower of the PGA Tour, but I honestly never heard of this guy before until last week. I looked him up and he had a 2nd at the Waste Management ... I guess I wasn't paying attention that week. His victory was under LPGA joke conditions on that Texas golf course, but at this week's meat grinder at Kiawah, he got killed, 78-77. It's too soon to see if this guy has any real staying power in the U.S. .... he could be like Satoshi Kodaira, who got a two-year tour exemption for winning at Hilton Head, but where is he now? He not even playing this week.
Speaking of the men's tour, if you don't care for CBS, the PGA Championship is on TV Toyko -

Min Woo Lee is picking up the slack for his sister, who is in a bit of a slump right now. Congrats on the win!

The Korean men's Olympic golf team, Sungjae Im and Siwoo Kim, have chosen not to play The Open Championship at Royal St. George's this week so as to be better prepared for the Olympics. An odd choice, until you realize that Korean men between 18 and 28 are subject to mandatory military service, but should they win an Olympic medal or an Asian Games gold medal they are exempt. That explains why Son Heung Min of Tottenham Hotspur was added to the 2018 Korean men's soccer team for the 2018 Asian Games, greatly increasing their chances of winning gold and thus exempting the entire team from conscription.

Si Woo Kim had a Tin Cup moment recently: In other news, it is definitely the case that he and Ji Hyun Oh are an item. In fact, they have announced they are planning on getting married, although it doesn't sound like there's been a formal engagement just yet.

Wow, Kyoung-Hoon Lee defended his title in Texas. Impressive final round 63 to hold off crowd favorite Jordan Spieth.

Brothers are making a charge on the PGAT this week, led by the tour's newest sensation, baby face 21 year old Joohyung "Tom" Kim. Hey this is news to me too. The kid made some news last week or two by securing a PGAT card via some strong finishes. I know nothing about him but saw in an interview that he speaks perfect western English.

Slight correction ... he's 20-years-old! Fascinating profile (above) ... turned pro one month before his 16th birthday ... has numerous wins on various Asian scrub tours.

As the Welfare Queens join The Shark's harem, the Brothers are trying to fill up a few of those spots. The season's last Korn Ferry event is on GC now ... past PGA Tour winner Michael Kim is on track to get his PGAT card back if he doesn't screw it up. I didn't even know that Ben An was stuck on the KFT this year, but he won't be in 2022-23. Seonghyeon Kim is a lock for the PGAT in 2023. Yank Justin Suh (played four years at SoCal) will also make The Show in 2023. Sangmoon Bae and Wee Kim are under-par today, but will remain in the minor leagues next season.
