This looks to be Johnson's year but Sungjae is displaying his talents well and impressing with his ballstriking. He can win here. A Korean Masters champions dinner someday would be epochal.

I don't really care much about men's golf tbh (I can't get over the hyper-elitism), but I do have to say that Sungjae Im took a page from the Inbee Park book of slow back swings... Good luck to him!

15 under par would win the Masters in most years, and shooting all 4 rounds in the 60s, as Cameron Smith was the first in Masters history to do, certainly should. This was not one of those years, not when you have Dustin Johnson cruising to a record 20 under par to beat Smith and Im by 5. Still Sungjae not only had the best performance in history by an Asian at Augusta National but also the highest finish ever by a Masters debutante, easily earning an invitation to next year's tournament, whenever that may be. That's something to build on.

Sungjae leads at the halfway point as the Seoul brothers try to make it two consecutive PGA Tour titles. I don't believe that's happened before.

They did it. Sungjae faltered, but Si Woo Kim picked up the slack, crushing the spirits of the TV people who were pulling hard for Patrick Cantlay. Si Woo managed the post interview in English, sounds like he's been practicing. http://instagram.com/p/CKc6RwzAgg3

Hat tip to GolfWrx Forum for posting this video compilation of SW Kim hitting driver off the deck and everywhere else ... not a common sight on the LPGA, although I'm 99% sure that MHL did it at the 2015 KPMG (I was on a hill in the rough downrange).

I do recall one occasion in which Grace not only hit a shot off the cart path but deliberately dropped on said path because it was the best option available to her. I don't recall exactly when that was but I do remember it being one of the few occasions when she spoke to me during a competitive round as I tried to walk ahead to the landing area only to have her ask me to come back behind her and out of the way. I usually avoid situations like that so I was slightly embarrassed to be singled out.

Over at the men's equivalent of the ANA Inspiration, Si Woo Kim, in the midst of some fine play--just three strokes back--lost his cool and broke his putter forcing himself to putt with a three-wood for the last four holes. Hwaiting!

Si Woo Kim is now fully acclimated to the U.S. tour. In addition, I watched some of Round One of The Masters on the computer. His third shot at #16 was from behind the green ... a short pitch that reached the green and didn't stop rolling until it went into the water. As he walked onto the green, I could read his lips ... let's just say that he has more in common with Crusty Grrr than I would have imagined.

In the old days I'd say Kim So-woo disgraced the ROK. In the modern era I'll just say he made a fool of himself.

Matsuyama is the Masters champion. An American named Morikawa is the PGA champ. Times are changing, white people. Get used to it.

You need to tell that to the green-jacketed members replaying that stilted hoary Butler Cabin ceremony every year. I half expect a white-uniformed Rochester from the old Jack Benny show to walk in offering a tray of pimento cheese finger sandwiches to the participants. And don't get me started on Jim "Hello Friends" Nance. I don't know whether he's more unctious or smarmy. It's a toss-up.
