I'm all for equality and stuff so my suggestion might sound cold and uncaring because it is. If women want to earn as much as men in golf nothing is stopping them from playing on the PGA tour. The USGA can set the prize money at whatever they want. Their mission is "to do what is in the best interest of the game". As Uncle Milt says "fairness is in the eye of the beholder".

NFL, NBA and MLB have been doing it and there have been no major outcries. Professional tennis majors, on the other hand, pay equal prizes to men and women. Even though men and women don't play each other. May be there is a difference between team sports and individual sports. My bet is it will happen; professional golf majors like US Open, British Open and PGA will pay equal prizes within 10 years.
