Of all articles dealing with the subject of Korea's dominance; this one is the most insightful. Secrets to South Korea’s Dominance of Women’s GolfFirstly, Korea has the best professional golf development program on the planet, and secondly, there were three shining stars (Se Ri Pak, Jiyai Shin, and So Yeon Ryu, who showed young girls across South Korea what was possible. Veteran caddie, Dean Herden, has looped for some of the games’ best players. Most notably, he worked with Jiyai Shin during her ascension to World Number One (she took over the top spot in 2010). Herden was also on the bag for So Yeon Ryu during her 2011 US Women’s Open victory, as well as In Gee Chun during her groundbreaking victory at the 2015 US Women’s Open. He makes his home in Korea and witnessed first hand the meteoric rise of women’s golf in the country.

That’s a good article. Congrats to Ben on completing one of golf journalism's rights of passage. The Korean Woman’s golf article.
Looking forward to seeing more of his takes in the future.

What about the Korean golfers that spent their Junior years in the U.S.A like Inbee and In Kyung Kim. Also Australia like Amy Yang and others. So I guess going through the three Korean tours, weren't the only reason they excel on the LPGA.

SoYeonFanYoung Korean girls gravitates towards golf because of the success of Women's golf in Korea. Young Korean girls can come from everywhere in the world; but they share the same identity, same heritage.

SoYeonFan Young Korean girls gravitates towards golf because of the success of Women's golf in Korea. Young Korean girls can come from everywhere in the world; but they share the same identity, same heritage. I know that "duh". I think I pointed that out. But the article focused on the three different Tours as the reason, for their success. It didn't mention once that they came from all over the world. I get so tired of reading that the structure in Korea gives them an advantage. We have thousands of Golf Courses, driving Ranges high school golf and college golf. Year round weather. I know why they dominate, but that's a subject I don't want to get into.

SoYeonFanI agree with you the three tours are similar to Japan and the US. What's set Korea apart is the proven success and the financial incentives Corporate Korea provides to women's golf.
