I thought it was interesting that the USGA said that their investigation determined that no compensation was given to Lucy for the ad now or in the future. But there was no mention of whether there was an agreement for Apple to sponsor Lucy once she turns pro. I wouldn't be surprised if there was...and that that was the reason for the NDA.
The NDA speculation is interesting...I wonder if such "future" deals are in place, especially for Asian amateurs. Exhibit 'A' is Suzuka Yamaguchi, who showed up in Lancaster four years ago (below) with her Yonex logos and Samantha Thavasa attire and continued "displaying" them for the rest of her amateur career while playing JLPGA events. When she turned pro following her successful trip through LPGA q-school in December, who did she select for her gear and apparel contracts? DUH! It's Yonex and Samantha again.

Geoff is some kind of golf reactionary...i.e., we gotta start playing sh***y golf balls again to honor the courses of Tillinghast, Ross, etc., and all amateurs must look destitute.
This is a can of worms. I think the easiest thing to do is have a maximum tee height. The game is better and safer when swinging a driver at 100% is a strategic choice.
