I don't know whether it's new; but LPGA of Japan will have 3 tournaments with purse of 200 million yen (US$1.81 million) in 2019, higher than TOTO Japan Classic.
Two things are clear; JLPGA is healthy even with reduction in tournament count, and Japan doesn't care about their joint event with LPGA.
Interestingly, Japan Women's Open isn't included in their schedule as it should be. Unlike LPGA, which shamelessly includes USWO in their schedule even though they do nothing.
Hats off to Japan Golf Association, they foot the bill for Women's Open, unlike Women's British Open. However, their purse of 140 million yen was the richest in 2006 but it hasn't changed since.

I think you misread that. The JLPGA website includes the JWO for Oct. 3-6 at the Cocopa Resort Club, about 40 miles SW of Nagoya.
*******
Just a hunch....I'll be the tour is working feverishly behind the scenes to get a tournament back in Kumamoto ASAP, site of the 2016 earthquake. Dropping that particular tournament for 2019 was a black eye.

As expected, an agreement has been reached between the JLPGA and tournament organises of the three tournaments holding back on the new broadcasting terms, this means the schedule has been updated and will now have 39 official tournaments worth 3.95 Billion YEN - the seventh year in a row prize money has increased and one tournament up from last year. www.lpga.or.jp/news/info/32339Maybe Kobayashi knows what she is doing after all.

You ain't kiddin'. The translated articles seem to say that she got what she wanted. Her run of success as commissioner is one of the biggest untold stories in golf. My concern is her focus on broadcasting rights...does that mean she'll crack down on Youtube posters and the streaming sites that carry the Japanese TV channels?

I hope not, because I believe the KLPGA limited the posters last year. Because I could hardly find any that were their in 2017.
