While we await the release of the US LPGA Schedule ( ?) word has gotten around on Japanese news sites that the JLPGA will have 39 official events, up one from this year. 39 events over 39 weeks with no break is a bit to much if you ask me! www.nikkansports.com/sports/golf/news/201811260000740.htmlAccording to the article, they lose the Cyber Agent Ladies Golf Tournament and gain two new events. Lose
- Cyber Agent Ladies Golf Tournament (Sky Kim won this in 2017)
Gain
- Panasonic Open Ladies (Promoted from Step Up Tour)
- Shiseido Ladies Golf Tournament
There is also talk according to the article that Amazon Prime will get broadcasting access as well.

In 2018, Sakura Koiwai and Kana Nagai were the two iron girls to play all 38 events.

That 39 event prediction didn't pan out...they posted the 2019 sked today and it is down by two events to 36. The various articles all talk about how the JLPGA wants to establish or take back the TV broadcasting rights from the tournament organizers...negotiations have been going on for a while...I guess three tournaments didn't want to play ball, so they're out, while a new event was brought in (Shiseido Anessa Ladies), so it's a net drop of two.
I don't think Kobayashi is turning into the next Bivens, but she sure invited some new scrutiny.

Apparently she's also asking for advertising revenue during the broadcasting of the events, that the JLPGA gets 10M Yen minimum as a fee.
Looks like the network NTV was not up for that.
There is already talk that 2 of those events will go with a another network and will be included next year but that is just speculation at this stage.
Non returning events

By the way, that is a pretty big loss within those three events as they have been on the tour for 40 + years.

Both JLPGA and KLPGA have less events in 2019 than 2018; not a good thing.

Both JLPGA and KLPGA have less events in 2019 than 2018; not a good thing. Some may say the JLPGA got greedy due to it's success, Kobayashi will say she is asking what they rightfully deserve. Apparently Chie Arimura is not happy and wants Kobayashi to go back to the organises and talk! www.alba.co.jp/tour/news/article/no=114371?cat=1Anyway 36 Tournaments all played in Japan is good enough, did i hear " Less is More"

johnboy No matter what you have; it never is good when things start to go sour. Even Rome fell! Don't you think JLPGA is missing a prime Ai Miyazato and a prime Bo Mee Lee?

Did the KLPGA release its 2019 schedule yet? It's not on its website?

Did the KLPGA release its 2019 schedule yet? It's not on its website? Sorry, I didn't say it correctly. It's 2 less events in 2018 compared to 30 for 2017; 32 for 2016. I don't know about 2019. "Even with good content, the KLPGA tour scale has been reduced to 30 conventions (20.7 billion won) last year and 28 smaller conventions (20.6 billion won) this year after peaking at 32 conventions in 2016 (total prize money of 21.1 billion won). It is also predicted that the next year, when the economic outlook is uncertain, will be a turning point for KLPGA tour."

Non returning events KKT TV Vantelin Ladies Open Chukyo TV Bridgestone Ladies Open Miyagi TV Dunlop Womens Open
These three events are symbolic of how the TV set-up on JLPGA appears to be 180 degrees opposite of the LPGA. These tournaments are partially named after local TV stations, which carried some (but usually not all) of the action...meanwhile, pretty much all of the LPGA is stuck in the bottomless pit of Golf Channel.
The 2019 season starts March 7 and ends December 1. The open weekends are April 20-21, May 25-26 and September 28-29. BTW, if you exclude the LPGA Toto, the total tour purse in 2019 will be ¥3.540 Billion, which is almost as much as the 2018 total of ¥3.570 Billion...obviously they squeezed out some money increases that almost completely covered the loss of two tournaments.
Panasonic was promoted to the big tour and replaces CyberAgent as the title sponsor for the three-day event one week before the Salonpas major. Panasonic's spot on the Step Up tour was not replaced, so the scrubs will go from 21 tournaments to 20.
It wouldn't surprise me if Dunlop and Bridgestone get back on the JLPGA sked in 2020...those gear brands blanket this tour...I can't believe they will let Yamaha, Yonex, and PRGR run around unchallenged indefinitely.

Ofcourse, Bo-mee is a superstar and I hope she and Ha-neul return to the top. Jiyai is great but she gets nowhere near the gallery support that the other two get. don't get me wrong the golf should always win but Bo-mee and Ha-neul have that extra something.
