Stage One of JLPGA Q-school started on Friday at two locations...most of the "names" were at one location:

Miyuki Takeuchi (+1) sent her shades flying like Charley Hull
Kotone Hori (+4)
Ah Reum Hwang and Kaori Aoyama (-3)
Ji Hee Lee (-1) and Karis Davidson (-3)

Karis Davidson is T18; she's a shot at another Top 10.
A win has been illusive, and may not be achievable.

I guess Seon Woo Bae will be the latest KLPGA player to leave for the LPGA of Japan.
Kotone Hori plus 4 no surprise, Mamiko Higa plus 2 is.

Round Two of q-school...it's not clear to me which Seon Hwa Lee is playing here, since neither is in the field at Jeju Island.

Mamiko Higa after shooting plus two the first round, shot minus seven the second round. Kotone Hori shot a minus four the second to get to even. Looks like she missed the cut by one shot.

Video below from Round One...focused mostly on the group of Higa/Arimura/Oyama. Queen Shiho is amazing...her upright swing looks a little unsteady on the follow-thru, but her putting is absurdly good for a 41-year-old...and she can still rock the Kappa fashion brand. She is the JLPGA's Crusty Grrr, but without the spare tire and the b*t**iness. I saw one swing of Oyama at the 2009 USWO...imagine an LPGA rookie at age 32. I seem to recall a scene on TV of Shiho climbing over a chain link fence to search for her ball in the driving range left of a fairway...that might have been the 10th hole at the old Sybase at Upper Montclair CC. I don't think I saw her at Lancaster CC in 2015 where she played super...it's too bad her USWO days are probably over.

Fifty-nine players are going off split tees on Sunday with the last group starting at 8:40 AM. Hmm, that should leave Fuji TV a lot of time to edit fit the action into the 85-minute time slot at 4 PM to the second!!!
Early starters:
Rumi Yoshiba and Yuki Ichinose
Saiki Fujita and Teresa Lu
Kana Nagai and Momoka Miura

Half of Stage One q-school is finished. The top-18 plus ties from Groups 'B' and 'D' will advance to Stage Two. I'll be shocked if Bae doesn't make it all the way through.
