Alison Lee is reduced to being a qualifier for USWO; how the mighty has fallen! During yesterday's coverage of the Mediheal, they put up a graphic with the final two rounds of the 2012 U.S. Girl's Junior Championship held at Lake Merced GC. Minjee beat Alison for the championship after the two had dispensed with Lydia and Ariya in the semifinals. Minjee, Lydia, and Ariya are all currently in the top 20 in the World rankings, while Alison has sadly fallen off the face of the planet.

11 Champions Among U.S. Women's Open Entrants www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/championships/2018/u-s--women-s-open/articles/us-womens-open-golf-championship-entries-tops-1500.htmlA total of 1,592 entries have been accepted for the 73rd U.S. Women’s Open Championship, which will be conducted May 31-June 3, 2018, at Shoal Creek in Alabama. It will be the first U.S. Women’s Open contested in the Yellowhammer State, and it’s just the third time in its history that the U.S. Women’s Open will be played prior to the U.S. Open. This marks the fifth consecutive year the U.S. Women’s Open has received more than 1,500 entries. The 2015 championship at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club holds the entry record with 1,873. Eleven U.S. Women’s Open champions are among the 93 players who are currently fully exempt into the championship.

The CLPGA just posted a list of 35 players for the Shanghai qualifier...the only really familiar names are Sharmila Nicollet and Wenbo Liu...there is one Korean, So Young Jang. No Ting Ting, no Xiang Sui, no Yifan Ji and no Weiwei Zhang, although it's possible they might be in the Japan qualifier (field not available yet).

Hmm - maybe ‘somewhat or vaguely’ rather than “really familiar “ names! 🤔

It looks like Nasa has no choice but to qualify in Japan on Tuesday, May 8 at Ohtone Country Club, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

If I'm reading the USGA regs correctly, Nasa should be exempt from qualifying because she was in the world top-50 ranking as of April 25.
The Japan Golf Association usually waits until about the day before to post the field list. Otone CC is less than ten miles west of Ibaraki GC (venue of the Salonpas Cup this week). It's free admission for the gallery...the golf club's website says there will be a separate spectator parking lot off-site which will have a shuttle bus! It's like a regular tournament over there.
No names posted yet at the Korea Golf Association website for its qualifier. That field is usually 90% amateurs.

It looks like Ha Neul Kim and Jiyai Shin; No. 4 and 5 money leaders from 2017 JLPGA who're exempted from USWO qualification won't play.
So are Ji Hyun Oh and Hae Rym Kim; No. 3 and No. 5 from KLPGA.

That appears to be the case with these ladies.Kevin
