No More "Ai-Chan fever". Chie Arimura spilled the beans on this and the news spread like wildfire. Ai is not playing in Japan this week, but her looper Mick Seaborn is working for another player. It's not clear from translated articles if her retirement is now or at the end of 2017. She is on the entry list for the 2017 USWO, which may mean nothing. Ai's management company says she will make an announcement in Tokyo on May 29. She is also in the field for the JLPGA's Suntory Ladies on June 8.

What a downer. It was really something to see her play at Bighorn at the start of her LPGA career. The Japanese press outnumbered the gallery. Miyazato forgot more about being a golf professional than most of the players will ever know. She looked and acted the same, 13 years later at Aviara and Mission Hills.

She will be missed by me anyway. I met her at the Legacy Golf Resort, when she was during the Vision 54 training. She let me watch her practice session with Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott. One of the nicest and persons ever.

Luv Ai-Chan. She will be sorely missed PURE CLASS!
I hope Ai makes it to the CME....she has a lot of LPGA friends and they will throw her a great retirement party....if Whan doesn't do something for Ai-Chan.... then we know how racist he is against yellow skin and black hair....I'm kinda surprised he says hi to the Smiling Buddha....I saw them chatting.

Ai is exempt from qualifying for this year's USWO, so I hope she'll be there. Otherwise, the last time I saw her in person was last year at the Seaview when she shot 64 in Round One. I hope she is not really quitting all golf tours at the end of 2017...I'd like to see try the JLPGA as a regular again...heck, she had a T-6 in Japan last week. I followed the start of her first round match at the 2006 Sybase Matchplay against Kyeong Bae. Ai's army of photographers were there, but KB was not phased as she won the 1st and 3rd holes to take a two-up lead. BTW, some of you may remember that KB's kid sister would follow her on the course and she looked like KB's Mini-Me. Ai bounced back with three straight birdies on #4 thru #6, winning two of the holes to even the match. After both players' tee shots at #7, I followed other matches...KB won later 2-up. First hole tee shots from the Ai/KB match

sorry, doesnt look like the link loaded. ai miyazato basically cited lack of motivation and not able to win a major as her reasons.

With all the fanfare back in Japan for Ai-Chan and other female golfers....why haven't the Japanese created robot and JUICE factories to pump out more great female golfers.
