The dearth of likable American stars must be at it's all-time dearthest.
While Kerr is unlikable almost by definition I'm quite fond of her and her game. She's golfing her ass off. If some of the women tried 1/2 that hard they'd be unbeatable.

I'm not sure if the nicknames for Asians are a subtle or blatant form of racism. It does reflect the announcers are lazy and not ready for primetime. I imagine Vin Scully at almost 90 could pronounce the players' names properly after one try. Never mind Vin; the announcer who prides himself on getting the players' names correct, often because he goes and asks them himself, is Chuck Kaiton, the dean of the NHL broadcasting fraternity and sole radio voice of the Carolina Hurricanes since their first day in the league as the Hartford Whalers in 1979.Kevin

I'm now officially a Haru Nomura fan. Beating Kerr, and having In Gee and Minjee as fans? I'm sold!

Rest assured the recently retired Bob Miller with the LA Kings and the late great Chick Hearn with LA Lakers would never resort to using initials. Mentioning Golf Channel announcers in the same sentence with any of them is blasphemy.

Loved this comment on the Golf Channel (is this one of you guys?): I wish I could take credit, but I've been on the Golf Channel watch list for many years.

I've been having a ball reading some of the twitter reaction to Cristie Kerr's slow play. It's like poetry to watch, in real time, how twitter turned en masse against her. It takes a real special talent to do that.
Here are a few gems:

It must have come from the player's request. They may not be hall of fame announcers, but they are still professionals.

Regular golf twitter hammering Kerr was the highlight of the weekend, as much as I like Kerr due to my sophistication and appreciation of nuance.
But you knew the GIC was going to be in the bag for Kerr. Stina wants to be stuck on a raft with her. WTF? Ginella works a wine company plug in.

Nomura has shown me NOTHING with her full wedge shots. Must be those RUBBISH Yamaha sticks...same with HJK...who hasn't played well for a long time. They said MW is playing new irons...but which ones....older model Cally MB's...she was playing the Apex Pro Forged. Wrong "Y" ... Hyo Joo Kim is still with Yonex. ****** Speaking of gear, I just found this pic of MHL in Hawaii...don't know the looper, but notice the Cleveland bag strap. Expand the pic and you'll clearly see three Srixon head covers. Don't know if that continued...can't find pix of her at the VOA.

Hands off the kids, Minjee. Only Lexi and Paula connect with the youngsters.

Hands off the kids, Minjee. Only Lexi and Paula connect with the youngsters. That was overall a fun event to watch with the wind. Tough par 5's might not make great playoff holes though.

Impressive that In Gee missed the cut on Friday, yet came back on Sunday just to cheer on her good friend.
