“We had 96 of the top 100 players in the world last year and we’re expecting the same this year,” said Canadian Pacific Women’s Open tournament director Brent McLaughlin after a trip to Calgary last week for meetings with the title sponsor and volunteer committee chairs and planning sessions at Priddis Greens.
I don't know how well this event will be attended. Although different target markets...I don't think the Champions Tour, Shaw Classic, existed in 2009, the economy has tanked in Alberta with a left wing govn't. Calgary is not Edmonton as far as sports fan support.
There was ABSOLUTELY no explanation why there was a HUGE drop off in attendance at the 2015 CP CWO vs. the 2012 CN CWO. It would be nice to see a dedicated LPGA Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton rotation of an event here.
If Hunter Harrison should retire...IMO...the CWO would be in dire straits to find a sponsor....likely an Asian bailout would be required.
