...actually they are the Shinsegae "Landers", whatever a Lander is. The SSG Landers, owned by the Shinsegae group, are based in Incheon, which explains the nickname, a callback to one of the pivotal moments of the Korean War. Landers is short for landing craft, the means by which General MacArthur's UN troops stormed ashore in Incheon, which at that point in the conflict was well behind North Korean lines. The team was previously known as the SK Wyverns from their inception in 2000 until Shinsegae acquired them from the SK group in 2021, but not before the Wyverns won 4 Korea Series, the most recent coming in 2018.Kevin

Personally, I think 'Wyverns' is a much cooler name for a team, and a Wyvern (which is a kind of dragon) much better a mascot than that wolf/dog thing (how does that dog fit in with MacArthur? I suppose they couldn't have had a dude with a pipe as the mascot, but still?).
