I just came here after watching Hwang get the gold. As usual, it was crazy: they somehow ended up with 10 skaters in the final (normally there are five). Included were three Koreans and the two Hungarian brothers of Chinese descent (they also have a Yank on their team who was in the B final, John Henry Krueger by name). Anyways, the other two Koreans were not a factor, but Hwang got close to the lead early, made a great pass late, and held on for gold. Amazingly, there were no falls.
Hwang got a measure of justice; he apparently was DQed in the 1000, his best event, causing the usual outrage in Korea. Ah, Short Track!
Oh, and remember Victor Ahn? He was the guy who defected to the Russian team in 2018 (2014?) and won all those short track medals? Well, he's retired, and now a coach... for the Chinese!

Now we know why Putin showed up ...
Here We Go Again Department:
I am learning that a DQ is not automatic in this case:
The IOC has called the case a “legal issue,” reportedly because Valieva is a minor and therefore a “Protected Person” under the World Anti-Doping Code. The Code allows for lesser penalties for minors who violate the code.
Karen Chen took the high road and did not call the ROC cheaters, but bluntly described the situation:
“[They] are doing things that I can only dream of doing,” American Karen Chen, who finished fourth at the 2021 World Championships, said of the Russians' ability to attempt multiple quads in a routine. “I am not capable of doing what they are doing.”

SBS Sports is showing Men's Hockey live ... Canada giving Germany a beat-down after two periods, 4-1. ROK doesn't have a team here for men or women.
Hideous unis for Team Canada

The whole reason they are called the 'Russian Olympic Committee' instead of Russia is because they were caught, as a country, in a systematic web of non-stop cheating. Did anyone think that letting them continue to compete, they would suddenly learn the error of their ways? Also, what the heck is a 15-year-old doing competing? I recall that Yuna Kim was stopped from being in Torino because she was only 15 at the time. Suddenly it's OK to be underage I guess? If there is drugging going on, the place you usually see it is in women's competitions, where drugs have a bigger effect on performance. Remember the East German swim team? It was only women that won there, not a single guy. Anyways, I didn't see a single Russian man in the top five yesterday when Chen got the gold. But in the women's event they are everywhere, 'doing things no one could do before'. Hmmmmmm.....

I would be remiss if I didn't point out that CHLOE KIM got the gold!!! First woman to ever repeat in the event! The last trick was especially impressive. linkBut someone better head out to the Olympic Village and save Chloe; she's locked in! link

I wasn't able to find the match. Peacock? I think that requires a cable connection or a payment, and I have enough services I'm paying for. Guess I'll have to see if I can find it online. Does the sports app allow you to watch whenever, or only live?

I cut the cord years ago with cable, but I have YouTube TV which gives me access to everything on the NBC Sports app.

SBS Sports is show LIVE Men's Hockey ... after one period the Russian non-dopers are in a scoreless tie with ... Denmark, WTH?! Frickin' Denmark? In the history of the NHL, only 17 players have come from Denmark! Did ROC send a bunch of low-level bushers? Second period has started ... ROC just had a power play and couldn't score. Another Denmark penalty and ROC still can't do anything ... penalty over, ROC looked pathetic. Hey, I saw the back of one guy on Denmark ... his last name is Madsen. I hope he has the fire of NKM.

I have Youtube TV and have looked all over, but though they have a bunch of Curling matches, none of them are with the Garlic Girls. Sigh. [EDIT]: I found it online: Canada vs. South Korea. But it looks like this is just a half an hour long preview, then you have to join Peacock. Grr. (Fortunately, tomorrow's match against ROC will be on Youtube TV).

Geez HappyFan, I'm an old Medicare card-carrying geezer and I could find it on the app no problem. Next time ask your kids! I just looked on the NBC Sports app and the full replay is still there. Open the app, go to REPLAYS, scroll down to THU 2/10/22 until you see CURLING - WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT - CANADA VS. S. KOREA - 2 HRS 55 MIN. FYI -- The live upcoming S. KOREA/ROC match is scheduled at 8:05pm EST tonight on the app. It should also be available on demand afterwards.

Heh heh, I'll take your word for it. I'm trying to avoid using my phone, so no apps. Can't find it on the web or on demand. I'll watch the ROK vs. ROC match, that one I am seeing on the upcoming schedule!

HappyFan, NBC Sports is an app you download directly to your TV from whatever app store you use...no phone required. So you can watch the Garlic Girls in glorious 75-inch 1080p. Do I have to explain how to download an app to your TV? I give up...

Please be patient with me! In my defense, I have only recently cut the cable; I'm still used to going to one place for everything I want to watch. . (Yes, I do know they call 'em apps on TV, too, but that is not the first thing I think of when I hear that term. Also, how many "apps" does NBC need? )
