CLPGA Q-school started on Wednesday at Hainan's tropical paradise: In this field of 144, there are few recognizable names. The top-30 after Saturday's round will be awarded a CLPGA tour card ... that plus fifty cents will buy you a Tsingtao beer. The 1st round leader is Kultida Pramphun (66, -6) of Thailand. Pink Panther wannabe Chika Sawada shot 68.
Desperate LPGAer PK Konkraphan opened with a 68.
Desparate JLPGAer Natsuki Hatano (right) shot 73.

Riri Sadoyama, who played the JLPGA once in a while as an amateur, shot 65 and took a two-shot lead at 134 (-10).
Anne Yu (A) has an American flag next to her name on the CLPGA leaderboard ... she is T-21, Even. I think she is the same person who is a HS senior at Int'l Junior Golf Academy in Florida (#941 on WAGR w/ China flag).

Congrats to amateur RuoNing Yin (#85 on WAGR) for winning a ticket to Skid Row the CLPGA tour with the best score. However, she won't turn pro right away ... as an am, plans to play the LPGA Blue Bay and the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific this spring.
Successful qualifiers by country ... why are there two players behind the US flag? I think that's Konkraphan behind the stars ... it must be her way of saying she's really part of the LPGA. I assume the other player is Anne Yu.
We might be seeing more of Anne Yu in the future, especially if she is on IMG/China's radar screen. In Dec. 2018, she won the Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final (under-19 division) in Florida, shooting 70-67-71 at Bella Collina Golf Club (designed by Sir Nick, of course).
Jan. 2019 - won Sean Foley's junior event at Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Florida, shooting +11 over three days.
