Go Jennifer! always hoping she'll put together enough solid rounds to win. So close at ANA 2018...and only occasional great round since then.
And interesting that Patty T wears Hanabank hat, rather than some Thai company. Let's see if she can rebound from her 2nd-round 75.

It wasn't so easy the second time through.
**********
MHL interview on Thursday, which includes a swing video. There are subtle changes compared to her swing at the 2015 KPMG (second video below) ... her current swing has less back arch during the follow-thru, she might have a little more hip turn now, and she's not choking down on the club.

Man, she's really bombing right now, isn't she? Well, it's just the first event... Right now?! Only said something because I looked up her results: best finish (and only cut made) going back to the Walmart in late June is a T70. Was actually surprised things were that bad. Only reason she is still around right now is that the USWO's purse is so massive compared to everyone else's. I think Gaby Lopez's win will somehow buy Ms. Fassi some more time. I was trying to be nice to start the new year... But I watched the coverage today and the Fassi hype train irritated me, so here we go: As I pointed out in my year end SeoulSisters awards blog, Fassi basically hasn't had a good result in like six months at least, but boy that hasn't stopped the hype. The one time they showed Yealimi Noh today, she nearly dunked an approach shot for an albatross. This gal is the REAL DEAL and actually made the cut and gets almost no broadcast time. Meanwhile, they showed Fassi over and over. When she finished up at 11 over, they still found a way to compliment her, essentially saying she tried really hard on day two. WHY ARE YOU SHOWING HER WHEN SHE's DFL!!!! ? They showed Inbee once and she's a HOFer who was near the cut line, and then back to Fassi again. Just. Don't. Get. It.

Day Two
I just had a feeling before this week started that this was going to be a dud week, and boy I've been right so far. Inbee just missed the cut (I think the afternoon conditions must have been harder than the morning), MJ also missed the cut, In Gee is in her usual spot towards the bottom, although at least she made the cut, and Yealimi was never able to make a run after that early eagle. Only one Korean in the top 20, Sei Young, although at least she's a player who seems like she could win this if she focuses.
The big highlight today was Jennifer Song's 64; wow, I didn't realize she was already 31! Time flies. Can she finally get her breakthrough win? Is it still a "breakthrough" if you're in your thirties when you get it? Well, she still has a long way to go.
Sisters hwaiting!

In Gee's driving average was 224 today. I thought maybe the rain was affecting her, but for instance Sei Young was 269, and Fassi was 293. Somehow In Gee has managed to get even shorter than she was last year, and I didn't think that was possible. I still love her and certainly don't want to be another voice dumping on her, but I have to be honest, if she can't get her average over 250 at least she just is never going to be a factor anymore (and really she should be above 260 to be a top player). It's sad, cause her short game must still be great to keep her making cuts, but you can't make it in this game if you are that short. (it's so weird. She seems as athletic as she's ever been, she's tall, and she has a fabulous swing. I have no idea why she gets so little distance these days).

Twitter claimed that Yealimi was going to be the first rookie to be profiled in the Fresh Faces series, and showed a pic of her being interviewed. Today they showed Patty T. Did they show Yealimi yesterday, or did I somehow miss her profile today?

Talking with her coach, In Gee gets too much spin on her driver. The ball basically falls out of the sky. She appears to have switched to PXG this season, and we know what that did for Lydia's driving average. Oy. I can't believe in this era of launch monitors and custom fitting that her team can't find a combination of head and shaft that can get her 250+ yds.

Agree, hard to believe they haven't tested equipment, etc. Could it be she's just not that strong, and doesn't work out enough? That's gotta be essential these days. I have seen the occasional photo on social media of her in the gym, but she certainly does not look buff in person. No Jennifer Song, that's for sure.

It was just a fluke that I chose Sagstrom for an IG posting just before the tournament started.
************
I looked up Klara Spilkova .... her career in the big leagues has been dreadful, but she's trending in the right direction with five cuts made last year, and this week could be a huge payday. I watched her a little bit at Raven's Claw in 2018. We can't confirm it in this pic, but I don't think she paints the crown of her driver with the Czech flag anymore.
********
Saturday interviews:
Dumbo ... I think Nichols is talking with Reid in the background -
Dr. Noh ... not sure what to make of those eyelashes -
DK ... Nichols w/ J. Korda in the background -

While Inbee and Gabby suffered from the post-playoff blues, Nasa is still sky high.
Sei Young is the only Korean in contention. Next back is Chella and In Gee at T27.
I've been so busy with work. I'll get to finally watch some action tomorrow.

When she came out on tour, she was averaging around 253 yards, and in those days she had a bit more baby fat than she does now. She seems to have really trimmed down lately. She might not be objectively buff, but she's certainly improved fitness-wise. I recall watching her at Sahalee and marveling at how much height she got. Just a majestic, towering drive. I always felt that if she could find a way to get more forward thrust out of that she'd be hitting it in the 270 range regularly. Who knows, it's nice to hear she is aware of her driver woes and that they are trying to address it. If they ever figure it out, I think that will be the road back. Fingers crossed!

Strange season so far. Who would have picked Gabby and Madelene? Nasa, Sei, and Danielle all played two really good tournaments and with a bit of luck could have been holding at least one trophy.
On another note, am I the only one who thinks that we could use some changes in the booth at GC? Rankin is a very nice person but her time has passed. Her call on Fassi's 73 (1 over par) was unwatchable. You would have thought she shot 63. She shot 82 the day before. Who couldn't improve on that? And while I am venting, put Stupples back on the course and let her cover some holes from there. Not sure who wants the job in the booth, but it is sad when the guest players are more listenable then the so called proffessionals.

I had a feeling that Nasa would miss her putt. Emotion plays a big part in golf sometimes.
