Shibuno Fever hasn't let up. For ¥3,000 the JLPGA can sell you a golf towel with her name in fancy lettering:
She also signed an endorsement deal with T-Point (left sleeve), which already has a tournament every March...and I see some expensive unused space on that shirt:
From translated article:
Attention is still high, and the last week's tournament recorded the highest level of women's golf this season, with the TV ratings on the second and last days broadcast on Fuji TV both exceeding 8%.
I don't know what's happening here.

This tournament and the last one had a warning on the JLPGA website, saying parking spots were limited and strongly urged the use of public transportation...I wonder what that's about.
*******************
It is EARLY EARLY EARLY ... but Sky Kim is tied for 1st at -3 thru eight holes.

From the website...is it the weather or Shibuno Fever:
Parking conditions are getting worse due to rainy days. There is a limit to the number of parking spaces, so parking may be refused when the vehicle is full. Please use public transportation. Click here for access information We are responding by increasing the number of gallery buses, but due to the congestion of the road, it may take some time to reach the competition venue, especially in the morning.
Another article says walk-up ticket sales were double over last year and the Shibuno towels sold out one hour after the gates opened.

Round One video...until or unless someone takes it down. I just started watching it...Shibuno waiting to tee off at #16 w/ Matsuda and Yasuda.
***********
An article posted early Sat. AM in Japan reports on Mami Fukuda's commute to the golf course. Her hotel was four km away and it took her 40 minutes to travel one km. Fortunately, the remaining 3 km took only 10 or 15 minutes.

Talk about polar opposites in that group - Matsuda and Yasuda. IMHO, the only reason Matsuda hasn't won on this tour yet is because her control of the golf ball is suspect. There are a lot of "movements" in her golf swing...of course, Jim Furyk has even more "movements" and makes it work, but Matsuda is not there yet. At least she can drive it long. Yasuda's swing looks totally in control and extremely square all the way through. I expect her to be an above average moneymaker on the JLPGA by the simple fact that her swing will almost never put her out of position. Oh, and throw in that pure putting stroke she demonstrated at Augusta.

The JLPGA website announced that the parking lot is FULL.
