Did they show one shot of MHL's round today? Or were they too busy hyperventilating about Maria Fassi's "under par round (by one shot) at a MAJOR!"? Or were they too busy showing every shot of Lexi's +6? Why expect anything different from the Golf Channel. It's the same story every broadcast. We are going to make them a Star no matter how they play. Anyway great starts by Inbee, Mi Hyang and Jin Young Ko. Not so good for So Yeon and Jeongeun Lee @ plus one. So Yeon only missed three greens but thirty four puts hurt her score. Tough start for JLPGA stars Ai Suzuki, plus three and Mamiko Higa, plus five. Edit: Forgot about Hye Jin Choi slow start of plus two.

2 inches of rain forecast for Saturday...so much for scheduling this during the "dry" season. Have Hans & Franz Jacques & Franck shortened this to 54 holes yet? Listen, whatever it takes to get the parachute on that 18th green on Sunday. That is the deal, that has always been the deal.

"You had 23 putts today. What's it like when you make ALL of your putts?"
"Really?! I didn't know that! I really happy! Oh! I didn't know it. 23, wow! Amazing! I'll try tomorrow too."
"It's a special tournament for me in my heart."

Round 1 Some really great stuff in the morning wave, although a lot of the highlights seem to have taken place after the coverage went off the air. Jin Young knocked in four straight birdies to end her day, while Inbee holed out a bunker en route to her own 65. Alas, not so great a start for Lucky Six at +1, and Hye Jin will have to work to make the cut. In the afternoon, the mantle was taken up by Sung Hyun and Mi Hyang Lee. Sei Young Kim also positioned herself well for the next three days. Can she FINALLY get that Major win? In Gee showed some promise, but is once again perched near the cut line. So Yeon couldn't make a putt it seems. Inky is also in danger of missing a paycheck. But nice even par start for Yealimi Noh, who will celebrate her 18th birthday tomorrow. Sisters hwaiting!!!

In Gee preps for Evian LOL. Even though she had a so-so start today, she is the top sports search item on the Korean web site I frequent, ahead of the other Sisters.

Mi Hyangie can do this, I believe. But she gotta get serious. Not too much giggling.

She shouldn't change one bit.

Crusty Grrr (78, +7) is now officially in PANIC MODE.
First, she fell out of the top-8 in Solheim points. Next, Captain for Life threw her under the bus at last week's Dow Great Lakes. Then she announces this week that she canned her long-time swing instructor. Is her looper next?

The players have always seemed to fully embrace Evian as a major.
Some claim that majors are a media creation. Sure, but only because it’s human nature to assign relative value, which is why the players do it anyway.
A major is any time the best players in the world are all trying to have their games peak.

Paula already had the Captain's Pick sewn up. Now she's just showing off. Good for her.
Some on the 4-cap white-belted website are saying that broadcasting mediocre golf from heavily promoted players is good business. I'm not sure about that. Casual fans, after reading and hearing the heavy promo, would turn it off. Televising every wayward drive and missed putt only caters to the haters. I hope Lexi isn't reading her social media comments today or she may blow off the British again next week.
Fassi is blameless. Parachuting into the middle of the LPGA season as a rookie is already a pressure cooker. But creating GIC superstar myths prematurely does her no favors. It doesn't create new fans. It just creates wrx threads like, "Can a Male 14-Handicap Beat an LPGA Rookie on a Good Day?"

But Suzy Whaley might not be fit to run the PGA if she really thinks Fassi will be the LPGA's next superstar.

Lexi essentially calling drives that hit the fairway and end up in the rough good shots is pretty funny.
We need more players saying what they think, however. Even if it's passive aggressive nonsense. #allgood

Defending the GIC approach of trying to manufacture superstars out of mediocre players as "duh, obvious capitalism SS's" might go over better if it, I don't know, ACTUALLY WORKED!
