Seriously, In Gee would've won 5 majors already and would've been No. 1 for 2 years straight if she'd Jin Young's mind set.
I thought Dumbo's three missing majors was due to a 100-lb steamer trunk heaved at her by the Hulk's daddy.

Inbee Park can get an early start back to Korea. She and Jin Young Ko are playing in the KLPGA Jeju Samdasoo Masters next week.

The Flying Dumbos were reduced to hoping that Sarah Schmelzel bogies her final hole so that In Gee could make the cut on the number. In Bee, So Yeon, Shan Shan, Eun-Hi, Nasa, Yang, Lydia, Stacy, Kerr, Hye-Jin...so many "stars" missing the cut for the 2nd week in a row. It's puzzling. Right, tonyj500 ? Clearly you aren't a Flying Dumbo; and you couldn't care less about the pains we went through. In Gee moved to T65 when Mariajo Uribe tripled #14 and moved to T64 when Sarah Schmelzel bogeyed both #14 and #15. By the way, Sarah parred her final hole. There you have it; Mariajo is the true Angel of the Day! Looks like Lydia is entering Yani Tseng land. Time to junk them clubs!

Korean naysayers question her chewing gum on course. Jin Young: “It’s a really good flavor,” she said, “tasty.” AWESOME.

Earlier this AM, I wondered if they'd show Hinako Shibuno's opening tee shot. They did (Stupples loves her swing)...only because she was grouped with two A-listers, Minjee and Anna N. In another post for a different event or subject, I said Shibuno came out of nowhere this year...of course, that's an exaggeration, but not by a lot. Try finding a pic of her taken before 2018...I'm not sure they are any! I haven't seen any pics of her wearing the Team Japan uniform and it appears that she played only one JLPGA event as an amateur, the 2015 Nichirei Ladies...she finished DFL, but was the only am to make the cut...and no pics.
*******
I can't find any deep dive articles on Shibuno from the GIC...naturally, if she gags on Saturday they won't have to do one. An article from Japan:
Google mush excerpt:
After responding to the Japanese press, I was interviewed by LPGA (US Women's Golf Association) and was attacked by questions surrounded by three more foreign reporters.
"Where did you go in the UK?" "What's the difference between the toilets in Japan and the UK?" "It seems to be called Cinderella in Japan, but how are you feeling?" "Why are you laughing up there during the round?" . One of the local women's reporters named "You are Smile Cinderella" (you are "Smile Cinderella") to answer non-golf questions with a smile and without resistance through an interpreter.
I hope someone asks her about her parents' athletic background. Prior Google mush indicated that daddy did the shot put and discus and mama threw the javelin...good blood lines like Korda 1 & 2!
******
She's not that far away from getting on to Japan's Olympic team...a few more high finishes and she'll do it. I don't think Suzuki's and Higa's games travel well...they'll make one cut overseas for every two or three MCs.
Driver swing video in the article below...wow:
******
Eleven months ago, she was schlepping a sign at the Konica Minolta tournament as part of the JLPGA's "rookie camp" initiation. She's no weakling...in American numbers, she's listed at 5' 5" and 136 lbs.

In Bee, So Yeon, Shan Shan, Eun-Hi, Nasa, Yang, Lydia, Stacy, Kerr, Hye-Jin...so many "stars" missing the cut for the 2nd week in a row. Six of the Top 20! Eight of the Top 24!! Even more than last week! Never happens! It's insane! Right, tonyj500 ? According to Golf Central, they are blaming it on the strain of back to back majors. Five of those players you listed are from South Korea, by far the country with the best players on the planet. Yes, it is insane. If you want to criticize me for saying last week it was an anomaly, and it happened again that's fine I got big shoulders. It's seems very picky on your part though. If you want to be critical of the predictions I get wrong then maybe we should start a thread "Jumpcut points out Tony's bad predictions". That will be the largest thread on here because I have a pretty poor record as a prognosticator. Better yet if you can do better ( and with my track record that may not be too hard), I extend to you an open invitation to join me at tony'slpgareport and be a guest blogger. I will give you access.

I thought I was going to curse Shan Shan last week by mentioning her cut streak in majors. But she goes tied for second in Evian. Alas, Jenny Money finishes out of the money in the last major.
Still plenty of star power left on top. You got to like 10-sponsors-plastered chances.

Whoa Tony, you're acting like I'm always going after you. I think this is the very first time we've ever had any dialog. And I only brought it up last week because it honestly didn't seem so out of whack to have 70 players cut from a major...and out of those 70, five are from the Top 20. But as I said then, you're the stats guy so I'd defer to you. But honestly I couldn't help noticing that the very next week it happened again...with even more top players cut. And, to follow on with what you pointed out last week, a couple of the current leaders are pretty obscure. If you think I'm being "very picky," then I think you're being very sensitive. I'd be interested in seeing if this scenario has played out in other majors the past couple years. I have no idea how to get that information but my sense is that it's not that unheard of for five Top 20 players to be cut from a major with a high strength of field rating. After all, it just happened two weeks in a row. And I think you're selling yourself short on your predictions. If I recall correctly you usually won the old Pak Picker competition. Finally Tony, you should know by now that I'm just a joker around here and everyone on SS takes you a lot more seriously than they'll ever take me. And that's how it should be.

Regarding Solheim picks, Kupcho went into the tank this week, while Gillman is taking advantage and is -3 on her first six holes for Saturday. However, Gillman is skipping Scotland next week, while Kupcho is playing there.
Friday pics:
Be careful, Yuka, her mediocrity might rub off.

Jin Young’s destiny is to show Korea it’s ok to be a goofer and a golfer. Lee6, too.
Gum, crushes and hair dye. The Revolution will be televised.

Buhai has Park, Ko and Lee6 chasing. Bah. She will probably hang to win though, a la Lindberg taking down Inbee like no big deal and then disappearing back into the woods never to be seen again.
