I wonder with so many top players skipping this tournament. If that would be a factor in extending the tournament. I like that players like Muni He, Youngin Chun and Karen Chung got to play. But the Tournament sponsors are looking at other factors.

A reversal Jeong Eun Lee5 is minus nine and Jeong Eun Lee6 is minus one.
Youngin Chun birdied five straight holes on back nine to get to minus five. But she needs to work on her mental game, because she finished bogey, triple bogey. So she had seven birdies and finished minus one. She is very young and inexperienced and so is young caddie. As long as she keep believing in herself, she will be more consistant. Also eliminate those big numbers.

What did Yealimi Noh eat for breakfast this morning?? 9 under par 63, and that was with a bogey on the final hole!
Too bad she probably won't be on the broadcast, but hopefully they'll find a way to showcase her a bit tomorrow. Teenage Monday qualifier in the hunt! What a story!

I notice that the sponsor's exemption amateur shot a 96 (!). Does that mean she won't play round 2, as per the 88 rule?

Dr. Noh 63 ... Tiff Chan 64 ... Gimmee 65 ... this has to be goatiest goat track of them all. The only question is who's gonna break BadA$$' scoring record of -31.

Wow, Simin Feng (Even) got into this ... and will probably go out of this one on Friday afternoon. She hasn't made a full-field cut since the 2017 Marathon Classic.

> I totally agree about the easy setup of some of these LPGA golf courses. I am not sure what there goal is, but it's embarrassing.

What are the gallery ropes for at this event? To keep the deer off the course?

Round 1 Thornberry played mega-easy, as usual, with a staggering ten players shooting 64 or better. Come on, guys, ya gotta make it tougher than that! Still, give credit where it's due: Yealimi was on fire, shooting a 9 under par 63 to come very close to tying for the lead. It's exciting to imagine what she might come up with tomorrow, but even if she goes into the soup, she still has a really great round of golf to build on in the future. Meanwhile, Lucky Six was thoroughly upstaged by less lucky Five. Not a surprise; I fully expect Six to shake the remaining rust off and come up with a great round tomorrow. She's still just a shot over the cut, so anything in the sixties ought to get her through to the weekend. But I of course hope she'll do more than just get through. Namdalla and Amy also started well, but Sei Young sputtered to a 69; she's going to have to do a lot better to keep pace. Sisters hwaiting!!
