Anyone following this gar-BAGE? (phony French accent on second syllable). Just so I'm not completely ignorant of "Mainstream Media" current events, I plan to watch USA vs. France quarterfinal match at 3 PM EST...this link (and others) is supposed to have it LIVE:
I haven't followed this closely, but I read that the winner is heavily favored to win it all...like watching the finals now. I don't understand why they would load the brackets this way...oh well.
Just had a thought...but I take it back because it's awful...what if women's golf adopted the women's soccer habit of swapping tops with the opposition after the match is over? Also it's not practical for golf, as women soccer players appear to be all the same size and shape.
Alex Morgan scoring five goals against Asia's Sisters of the Poor did her no favors. Then she gets physically mugged by a real team (Spain) and shrivels up...at least she is still a doll.
BTW, Rapinoe is garbage (American pronunciation).

USA wins 2-1...to save time, here are all three goals:
USA -
USA -
France -
*******
I know nothing about soccer, but this thing is OVER. At the end of the game, the flashed some interesting stats, which forced me to do more research here:
So, France had the ball more, made more passes, completed a higher % of passes, committed fewer fouls AND LOOKED HOPELESS! The broadcasters sounded highly knowledgeable...the play-by-play guy said the possession stat is often misleading and woman doing color said it was the USA coach's plan: give France the ball because they don't know what to do with it! ...and they were implying this was the de facto FINAL. What can the other teams do?
BTW, check out the amusing comments posted for each of the videos. Sample from 2nd USA goal:
T P 9 minutes ago
A "cross" going 5 mph that basically comes to stop in front of the net for 3 seconds. They just redid my 3rd grade recess soccer. How exciting!

I wonder how much having purple hair, when you know you’re going to be on TV, increases your Q-Rating. Wie and Kang are on Team Q-Boost with Rapinoe. They are also all major champions.

I was out and didn't watch the finals yesterday...USA beat The Neverlands, 2-0. Fox summary here:
Nine countries are bidding to the 2023 Women's World Cup (USA not among them)...decision will be made next March.
BigSoccer is the leading forum for all talk on soccer:
This thread tracked the yesterday's game minute-by-minute...the most amusing comment is on page 6 (below):
Morgan said about the tea sipping celebration criticism that it's another double standard against women because men grab their sacks when they celebrate and nobody does anything about it. First, it's not true. I've never seen men grabbing their sacks to celebrate in any sport. Second, several men sports have penalties for unsportsmanlike celebrations so there is no double standard whatsoever regarding this issue. I like the USWNT and cheer for them, but the exacerbated feminism and victim mentality, that everything is a men vs. women issue, is rubbing me the wrong way. And yes, Morgan, mocking the other team when you celebrate is unsportsmanlike and criticizing you for it has nothing to do with sexism. I guess she'd say that I should say unsportswomanlike, and if I don't, I'm a discriminating sexist pig. But these irritating distractions apart, yes, go USA!

There is the popular Sam Cassell big balls dance but, to the point, you get fined for it. To her point, most of these guys love the big balls dance.
