Put on your hard hats, Ariya 51 has the driver today.
JEL 6, cool as a cucumber...got through 16, 17 & 18 uscathed...waiting for everyone else to gag.

Gillman...this is the player and the swing Inkster should be adding to the Solheim team (and leave her daughter The Pink One at home). She has quietly cashed 10 checks in 11 starts this year. She had a rollercoaster 74 today, which is not bad as this course looks TOUGH. I'm assuming she won't defend her Century 21 title in Japan next month since it's the same week as Evian.
*********
Nice start for HoJo (w/ Gaby Lopez below)
Side story:
The Google Mush is a little sketchy here...when HoJo played Yonex in Japan two weeks ago, someone in the gallery said "Thank you" after she made a double at the 9th green on Sunday. That's not cool in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter. It quotes Ryo Ishikawa saying golf is not a sport for booing and I agree (ditto to the guys who called Jack Nicklaus "fat guts" at the '62 USO). It also mentions an incident at the LPGA Mazda in 1984...Jan Stephenson bogeyed the 14th hole on Sunday and someone said, "nice bogey", causing Ayako Okamoto to freak out at that person. Gee wiz, Jan, not all the "Asians" were against you!

Nomura is a WD with no replacement...harrumph, they should have had Muni standing by.
G. Molinaro...who's her looper this week, Anthony Munoz?

Dumbo tees off with Concolino and Reid in a few minutes...hmm, how the might have fallen.
If the weather sucks for the rest of the day, then MHL's 74 should look better and better.

Ugh, Leona (78) stunk it up in front of her KPMG benefactors...I wonder if the regional office has an army of blue tee shirt followers assigned to Maguire, Spilkova and/or Lewis like they did in 2015 at Westchester CC.
I've seen her play in person and she is highly skilled for sure...but that doesn't say much for the Symetra Tour these days, where she is first in scoring average at 70.615. Looking at the other Symetra stats, Nat Nat Sheary is #1 in driving accuracy at 91.8% and 1st in GIR at 86.4% ... and #138 in putts per GIR.

Great answers from 6 in the press conference. Hearing her say she's never heard of Minnesota made my day. I could be convinced her translator doesn't know much Korean and is making a lot of it up.

Reporters for all the golf rags have done interviews with Koepka the past couple days. At least one of those guys could have read to him JYK's dreamy comments and asked for his reaction.
Whatever he said would have been headline news. They're both #1's.

I’ve seen Leona play in person also (2 years ago in Darius Rucker Collegiate), and she looked the same as this picture for pretty much the whole round - and she was playing reasonably well.

Team KPMG got rolled. There hasn’t been this much pressure on 4 players since the Crown in Korea.
KPMG’s involvement in golf seems like it’s run by try-hard MBA’s.

It wasn't until I saw the leaderboard on-line did I notice the "CP" designation. Except for Jimin Kang, a waste of slots that could've gone to much better players.
With a tough course, the top of the leaderboard has a much stronger Asian flavor. Seven Koreans in the top ten. Ariya is on the upswing that included driver.

Round 1 Pretty decent start for the Sisters. Even those at 2 or 3 over shouldn't give up just yet, there's plenty of time to recover and get back into this. Hyo Joo led the Korean charge with a 3 under, but Amy, Sung Hyun and Inky all put together solid opening rounds with 70s. So Yeon is just three back, Inbee 4 back, and Lucky 6 5 back. Even In Gee at 2 over could still have a great week if she can rally a tad tomorrow. Really, the only big disappointment on day 1 was Jin Young and her inexplicable 5 over par 77. Did not see that coming. She has some work to do to avoid the worst start of her season. But I'm hopeful she'll come back strong tomorrow, cause that's the kind of gal she is. Oh, and nice job by Jimin! How amazing would it be for her to notch a top ten this week? Good luck to her tomorrow!!! Sisters hwaiting!!!
