With the Korean golfers coming over and having success on the JLPGA Tour. I decided to see if the JLPGA had any rookie stars arriving like A Yean Cho on KLPGA. Looking through their stats, I couldn't find any stat about Rookie of The Year.

both rookies eimi koga (hawaii usa) and hana wakimoto (aka "87") made the cut. eimi koga was runnerup in a previous tournament this year and has to be near the top of the jlpga current rookie rankings. note on the jlpga website 19yr old amateur yuri yoshida -5, T2 is coached by none other than ayaka matsumori and liked to eat junkfood, sweets and sodapop. she will play the USWO this year. ayaka watanabe +6, unfortunately missed the cut again; she will probably fall out of the top 100 on the jlpga money list. her longest recorded drive was 291 yds so i dont think her problem is not injury related but she only hit 5/14 fairways both days. she needs to catch fire before the ranking reshuffle... remember a few yrs ago she and lexi thompson battled for the win at this tounament. http://instagr.am/p/BfsyYkWny93

Jlpga Rookies: as far as i can tell the top rookie on the current jlpga money list would be Yui Kawamoto. who is ranked 11th, has one win this year. last year on the step up tour she won 4 straight tournaments and was the step up tour queen. http://instagr.am/p/BuqX8hplN6M

Got me cell phone alarm set for 2:25 AM...a few pix before I turn off the lights:
Kana Nagai and Ah Reum Hwang
Phoebe Yao and Natsuki Hatano
Solar Lee...you could gawk at her incessantly with the built-in excuse that you're just trying to read her shirt.

Another 69 by Ji Hyun Oh -- that's the good news. The bad news is that she lost even more ground to the leaders. Seven back at this point. Still, she's in position for a good week with one more good round. Good luck!

its almost like a 18 hole playoff... except 19yr amateur yuri yoshida has an outside chance for a win, in 3rd place only 4 strokes back... will be in the final group with the leaders and get alot of tv time. she is ranked below yuka yasuda (who is ranked 11) in the wagr. yasuda i believe is resting her back and is not in this tournament. here is a pic of yuri yoshida with jinyoung ko at the austrailian open where she was low amateur. http://instagr.am/p/BfWxpMylZT1

I'm staying in blackout mode on this one...I hope it's worth getting up for.
Sharon is in the field for the next two JLPGA events...maybe these were charity invites, but she is not playing like a charity case now.
Rei Matsuda and Erika Kikuchi
Yui Kawamoto and Chie Arimura

Bae was in the lead at -13 as the broadcast started at the par-4 14th hole, but her backside was against a tree in the left rough. She punched out, hit the green and two-putted for bogey, falling back into a tie with Shibuno. It was all over at the par-4 410-yard 16th, where they have that usual Japanese course feature, a big tree in the center of the fairway. Bae flared her second shot with a wood or hybrid way right into the trees. Aside from a tall tree, she had an opening to the green, but her third landed in a greenside bunker...on a downhill lie to an uphill short-sided flag. She splashed out and two-putted for a six. Bae birdied the par-5 18th, but Shibuno held on with eight-straight pars coming in.

The last few years it seems like this Major has been won by really big time golfers, but I don't get the feeling this winner is the next Nasa Hataoka. Maybe I'm wrong... Anyways, congrats to her, but boy was I rooting for Seon Woo to finally break through. It really feels like Bae gifted this win.
Meanwhile, Ji Hyun Oh had a horrendous final day. 76 is terrible. Oh had the worst score of anyone in the top 20. Yeesh. Granted, it does sound like she's working through a leg injury, so maybe as that gets better these sorts of days will be a thing of the past. Still, a real bummer, especially after all the work she did the past few days to get into the top ten.
And the final round mojo abandoned Jiyai Shin as well, shooting a 74.

the take away from this tournament is you have a 20yr old ROOKIE winning... she was runnerup two weeks ago at fujisankei, tied with ai suzuki and two strokes behind the winner jiyai shin... last week she was 13th at the panasonic and has had a impressive rookie year including a top ten earlier this year. Shibuno is now ranked no. 2 on the jlpga money list.

i dont believe there is a stat for just rookies as a group, at least as i know of. you need to look at each player individually, (this year rookies are in the 90th class). in each players profile on the jlpga website the class number is listed at the top of the profile page. I have favorite rookies i follow; eimi koga, hana wakimoto, kasey komoto, etc..... and you need to go the jlpga website and look up their profile for their ranking.
if you look up this weeks winner hinako shibuno's profile you notice she is in the 90th class (so she is a rookie) and the stats on the profile will give you the current ranking, in her case with the win this week she is ranked no.2 both in moneylist and mercedes ranking.
also the ranking is somewhat confusing because of the re-ranking shuffle (shibuno is now ranked no.1 on the re-ranking list). i think there are still around 6 or so tournaments before the reshuffle takes place (half way thru the season).
at the beginning of the season eimi koga was no.1 on the reranking list due to her runnerup win early on; she is now no.7 on the reranking list.
another fav i have is ayaka watanabe who i have followed for many years; she had seed at the end of last year and barely made it onto the reshuffle at the exact cutoff overall no.59): with the bad year she is having thus far she is now ranked overall 99 but is ranked no.49 on the re-ranking list. she may lose her seed status unless she catches fire.

Keep in mind that Seon Woo Bae is also a rookie. I still like her chances to be top rookie on tour in 2019, even with this blip.
